Most music that you listen to is the kind that is shoved in your face. There is a plethora of music that you have to look for in places other than tv and radio.
You're probably just one of the lazy ones who chooses not to look.
Lydia is right though, as many 'crap' western bands there are, there are just as many J-bands. More often than not, its the trend novelty of a band being non-American that rubs many trend-hoppers the right way.

There's just a few to start out with. Now, if you can't find the reason why this thing s/he whatever is not ignorant then you must be pretty messed up in the head. I know someone ignorant when I see it and s/he's reponses are ignorant and rude.
Oh ya Winter, FIRST IMPRESSIONS DO HAVE IMPACT ON HOW PEOPLE SEE YOU. God...It's true. Let's give an example. Let's say you really like someone right and someone walked up to them and starting grabbing them and flirting right in front of you. What's the first thing your going to think about this person? I am different from the average girl myself I would say. I am more open than any girl I have met and don't seem to care what other's think of me.
