Do you discriminate?

I'm rather new here, I joined some time ago but I have not posted in a while.


I'm writing a paper (non-Japan related) and would like some input.


Do you discriminate? Now, I realize that we all do, in some form or another. But the real question is, how will you answer? If you answer yes, please provide some sort of explanation for your answer.

I will start.

Yes, I discriminate. I discriminate against my fellow Americans that live here on this tiny island with me. Whenever I see one I automatically think poorly of them. Why do I do this? I would have to say it is due to the bad image that many of the military community tend to give to the rest of us.

I have been living here for several years now and am an active member in my community. It pains me to see some of the headlines that come up or to see the way many of the younger ones act when out in public.

I don't think of myself as discriminating. If you go as far as thoughts, I might think discriminative things sometimes.
But I don't act or say anything discriminative. This is kind of and issue here, because our country is very much a mixed culture these days and there are people that believe this is a problem. However, I'm not one of them.

I really don't see why discrimination would be necessary. Really think you should respect other cultures and beliefs even if you don't agree with them.
And about more personal discrimination like overweight or race or whatever... I think that's just complete bullshit (excuse me).

Racial discrimination makes no sense at all to me, we're all humans is my opinion. And for other personal traits, well that's your own desiscion. Like for example the overweight. I don't think it's very wise to not loose weight, but also know that can be very difficult for some people. So I really try not to judge people before I know their situation.

Nevermind the insulting nature of your perception of the American military community for the moment.....

Either your discrimination is entirely illogical, or you do a poor job of explaining it.

Do you mean to say that you discriminate against all fellow Americans here in Japan, even those who have no relation with the military, merely because of your disdain for American military personnel?

Just what is it you do that justifies your being here and makes all the rest of us proud of you?

What "tiny" island do you live on?

You know when I first read the poll I wondered what could you mean? Or should I say what is it that you are trying to find out?

In my opinion everyone everywhere discriminates against something, whether it be people, places or things.

Having a discriminating mind is not a bad thing either.

When you ask "Do you discriminate?" are you refering to discriminating against a people or a race of people?

If that is what you are refering to or asking then I will answer with all honesty that NO I do not knowingly discriminate against anyone.

Then again depending on the person in "question" I have no idea if I am discriminating against them, unless of course they inform otherwise.

I really am curious now, what "tiny" island are you on?
