Dir en grey

You know, I've got mixed feelings about DeG. I like the way they change their style that suits them best for each era, regardless of what fans think.

But at another rate, they arent the greatest of musicians.

Shinya, in my ears, has improved greatly over the years, but the others havent all too much.

Especially Toshiya. Sure, he plays some 'relatively' challenging basslines, but for the most part, he lacks personality in his playing.

As traditional musicians, I personally think they all could use a pointer or two *minus Shinya, who has improved*. But as trendsetters, they are one of the two most influencial bands in Jrock of the last 10 years, no doubts about that.

This is rather OT, but does anyone know how the whole "Toshiya is a ****" thing got started? Was it the playboy bunny outfit? Or is it because he's prettier than most fangirls?

His groping at the indies-early major (think Osakajo Hall) concerts of fellow band members, his costumes. He used to show quite a good chunk of his body often, now he doesn't need to. =)

I like Deg a lot, they're one of my favorite bands. I just hope the upcoming single isn't in the Drain Away/Kasumi style. While it is nice, it's not my kind of thing. Hopefully it'll be something like Child Prey again~
Vulgar was a good album, but I think Macabre or Kisou was much better. Vulgar was a little too... I don't know how to put it, too (and this sounds silly) "rock" sounding? Maybe it was the particular style of some of the songs like Amber and Obscure. Marmalade Chainsaw, Increase Blue, and Asunaki Koufuku Koenaki Asu were loverly.

(I do believe Kyo is a very talented vocalist though. Die and Kaoru, and nice as their stage presence and percieved personalities are, are not really anything special in the guitar department. Shinya is good, I have a special little spot for Toshiya simply because he makes bass sound nice. =)

Yeah, I agree... This question makes me (confused) but nowadays I like to hear Zakuro... The guitar solo part on the song really really touch me..
