My God. Was Yesterday nasty. The weather. It was storming all day, like seriously. It was also the Dir en grey Zepp Tokyo live. Which since my airline sucks, makes it the last live I could see in Japan.
So I woke up, laid in bed for a bit, and just moved very slowly,as my futon was warm and comfortable. I finally got dressed. Met up with M in Shinjuku, Took some PuriKura and then ate and headed to the Zepp.
The Zepp is near this Toyota place, where you can look at all the models, the prototypes and do simulations and some different stuff. So we got our coin lockers and went and drank some Hot Chocolate and hung around in the Toyota place, with all the other fans who didnt want to be out in the wet miserable COLD rain.
Finally the Dreaded moment of taking our Jackets off and putting them into the coin lockers came (like I said in my other report you go in with nothing but your self and ticket, you CAN wear a jacket but you would die of overheating). Also even in this weather the girls still dressed like it was no summer.
So M and I and all the other fans are out there in the COLD FREEZING RAIN with just jeans T-Shirts or in some cases in SHORTS. Freezing our asses off under the umbrellas waiting for them to call our numbers. And it is raining so hard and so much that even with my 2 pairs of socks, the water seeped into my tennis shoes. So yep now it standing outside in the COLD FREEZING RAIN with just my ticket, my umbrella, jeans and a t-shirt and waterlogged shoes...PERFECT. But Hey at least I HAD an umbrella, you had poor souls out there with NONE. They looked liked drowned rats.
Finally the call our numbers (215 & 216) and let us in. YES Finally Out of the cold...but still wet. So I run to Die's side and was like 3rd row, and M stood a bit father off and got second row. And then you waited...About ten minutes before the band came out the pushing began. It wasnt bad just a bit uncomfortable...Little did I know thats just the anticipation pushing and not the actual pushing during the show.
So the band comes out, no G.D.S (Are they done with it...NOOOOO! I liked G.D.S) and then the real pushing begans. Oh Yea FEEL THE PAIN. I am not one for Setlists at all. But here is what I remember:
Opened with: The Final
Closed with: Clever Sleazoid
Kodou
Saku
Obscure
Garbage
Fatal Believer
1 New Song
ASoM
Shokubeni
IIIrd Empire.
Dead Tree.
Ryoujoku no Ame
And some more...
As far as what they were wearing, I really couldnt see Kaoru and Toshiya, but I know for the encore Toshiya put the scarf on his head. Kyo took off his shirt fairly quickly in both the encore and set (smiles). And thats all I can remember.
As for the show itself...it was...not bad but a bit off...Fukuoka was so much better. Die seemed Mad about something. During one song he was thrashing around so much that he fell into the amp stack and knocked two of them down.
During Saku Kyo, had a repeat of Toronto but he didnt get hurt this time. Thank God, and um..what else...After the show they threw some stuff and walked off, although Kyo was the last to leave the stage.
Also like in Fukuoka Kyo changed the lyrics to a couple of songs, including Dead Tree. And The arrangement was changed a bit. I noticed it mostly during Shokubeni. Kyo did fishhook. And during the Final he took a razor to his stomach.
Thats about all I can remember. Considering the one thing that was going through my head was probally "Don't Faint, Don't Faint, Don't Faint..." Because I was getting pushed and pulled and just was all over the place. I mean, it was really bad the pushing. Or at least IMO. But afterwards M was like...well you know they were kind of mild tonight with the pushing and I was like MILD!!! what!! If thats MILD I dont want to see them Full Force. But Lucky for Me I didnt faint, and I did manage to stay in the front until the encore. Where I was like ****it I am out of here.
But During Obscure the girl in front of me fainted and had to be pulled out. I wish I could have stayed at the front longer. But I stayed up there longer than I did at the Budokan, at the Budokan I lasted the 3 songs. Here I lasted the wholes set and the 1st song of the encore.
But it was like during the encore, they fans got even worse because they knew the end was over. And it was when the played Machevillism when I said I need out, so I backed out and stood a bit farther back where I could BREATHE. I really did want to stay in the front. But Because I am in the front, if you faint you get pulled out, towards the stage. And I did not want to have to get pulled out and the band sees me...LOL.
Oh and BTW Fukuoka was not bad at all. But then the show wasnt sold out, and it wasnt even packed in the front. Not at all. You could move around, dance headbang...at Tokyo, Nuh Uh Nothing.
So afterwards we had to get our stuff, and went to eat in Shibuya at this really nice Taiwanese resturant. Then I went back to my hotel. And stripped of my wet clothes and went to sleep.
And I woke up early to catch my train to Osaka, and feel like total ****, like I am coming down with a cold.
Also It bears REPEATING. But if You were one of the little fangirls crying about the pushing being bad. Then You NEVER need to see Dir en grey in Japan. Not Unless you stand in the back or the side.
Or even the pushing at ANY U.S J-Rock Concert. Because you will not last 5 songs. The Pushing BEFORE the show was about the same as how the Avalon was DURING the show.
