Dir en grey

Yes, It was really interesting O.O Freaky a bit as well XD But I really liked it though! XD I found it a shame that it was censored XD I'd like to see the normal one *-* XD Dir en Grey really changed a lot O.O

The uncensored one would be interesting to watch XD. It's a very different kind of Pv for Diru.

So my copy of the Agitated Screams of Maggots single came today, so I finally got to hear the song in full.

I really like it.

As much as people have been complaining about how all Diru has been making lately is loud and screamy Western-style metal, I really have to say that's true for the most part. However, you need to look past the surface. Yes, it's loud and growly and angry but... listen closely. Kaoru and Die are still weaving incredible harmonies underneath all the chaos, and I'm afraid no one is bothering to really listen. It's the same deal with Clever Sleazoid; there are so many great-but-subtle guitar parts in that song that get buried.

I guess it's okay to pine for the days of Missa and Gauze, but it's completely unrealistic to expect the guys to go back to that. If you ask me, Diru has been going in this direction ever since they wrote Zan.

Oh yeah, another great thing about Maggots (and Clever Sleazoid and Ryoujoku no Ame for that matter) is the production. My biggest complaint about Vulgar and Withering to death was that the drums were mixed too low and sounded really muddled. The last three singles tell me that they're wanting to showcase Shinya's new and aggressive style; everything is crisp and clean.

And the live version of Obscure is great.

i have that song... <33 Agitated Screams of Maggots i love it...
the RRRRRRRAAAAAAWWWWWRRRRR!!! lol it kills me so ...

Diru <33's luv no matter what, Kaoru and Die are awesome... so its not like they're lost or anything... haha...

Yep my copy of the single came in today as well. I hadn't listened to the live songs yet just the single, but I like them they were very good.

Bravo for saying it Saishu! Personally I must agree with those who are complaining about the Western styled sound on this release. Normally I don't care too much about where the music comes from, but with metal I'm a bit picky and ended up sup rising myself when I blurted out "wow this is WESTERN" while taking my first listen.

But Die and Kao's work here is absolutely wonderful and is really in my opinion one of the best things going for it. While it seams so many people are busy complaining about Kyos screams no one stopped to say anything about how deftly and wonderfully the guitarists are weaving a supporting and contrasting web of music with it to really bring everything out. This album belongs to everyone in the band but the real hats go off to those who aren't singing this time.

The guitars are TO DIE FOR. But I am loving the Drums in this one. Seriously Shinya got a nice workout.

I have to admit that I haven't always been crazy about Shinyas work - Yoshiki's pupil or no. Earlier he always sounded technically proficient but a little bit stiff. Somewhere along the line however he's managed to transform that into what's on the album today. I dunno, it seems that he's "warmed" to the position over the years. lol Although as a rule I still tend to prefer more emotional drummers (like Brian Viglione. 😊 )

But I do have to agree that the drum work is simply spectacular here. Shinya really has a nack for keeping the band going like nothing else when they're playing.

Yah I agree, only, my favorites are Shinya and Toshiya XD

It's probably a bit late but i'm going to do my review of "Maggots" anyway😌 :
I agree with the majority of you who think the PV doesn't fit the song, it's kinda Iron Maidenish with isn't what i'd usually associate with Diru.
As for the song, I love the music, I like the vocals but something seems abit......off. I'm not sure what or why but the song doesn't seem right somehow.
Maybe I should start taking my brain pills again.😌

@ Morning Masamune : I didn't like the pv either. It just seemed to me... tacky. I just thought it could have had so much more impact, it was really weak compared with the song.

I thought the video a bit tasteless. But the song still rocks.

Also Bleed the Dream will be Deg's 2nd opening band. Can anyone say EMOOOOOOOO!!!!!!1111

Uhh.. No 'Emo'..... BLEh...

Well, I miss Diru's old PV's... They were better by my opinion.. Though it's not like I don't like the new one.. It's just the old ones are better..

haha, its so backwards ... i like dir en grey, and dont like bleed the dream, and my sister is the exact opposite!! ....

the pv was neat on its own ... it was kinda wierd though, and i couldn't figure out how it went with the song??

Oh nekkyo, I would if I could on this comp. But perhaps some other kind person will be able to hmm?

I think its pointless to sit around and pine for the old stuff because diru has obviously hit upon a new vein that they're going to be following for quite some time. Besides need I point out that this is only one song from the group, one needs to take a collective listen before making a judgement on wither or not this is a total make over in musical direction or not. In my opinion diru's best songs are never the ones they choose for PVs. Chances are when I pick up an album usually the weaker song on it is the PV one.

But that could just be me.

Anywho that being said I've already put in my two cents on the PV in an earlier post so I won't get into that again, but I will say that the more often I watch the more it grows on me.

:/ O was at that BLOOD concert too. Not that the last two were bad (my god! I have nightmares about the first!), but that was still one act too many!

I don't think diru will though, I appreciate the fact that they're giving American groups a chance but they're not stupid - they know who the fans have come to see and hopefully they'll deliver! : D ( :] maybe . . . :| hopefully . . . D: or not XD lol ).

OMG! Do you remember how everyone freaked last year? XD We had all these plans to like blow dart Opium and then play the spoons on stage if need be? lol But Opium was really great - they had such nice energy that was perfect for Diru. I was actually looking foreword to seeing them again.

No problem. I like the song at least. I find the video tasteless for the most part. But there are a few parts I like. I see where the cover comes from now.

Agreed.

One of the things I would have liked a little bit more of is, well, some actual diru. :| It was interesting to finally see it uncensored though, the images were more vivid than I imagined them.

BTW it says in some of the vids "MTV" - is that US version or Japan?
