Dir en grey

I hope I'm right! I want a cookie.

Wasn't the forming date of the band feb 2nd 1997?

DAMN Precious4e posted before me. *goes in search of other cookies*

Hmm. Well we are thinking that it is really weird that they are performing the anniversery concert in the U.S. A 10 year anniversary is a big event for Japanese bands (seriously I mean how many Japanese bands have made it to 10 years AND with the same original line up) and they normally have some kind of big show to celebrate it.

yeah, a 10 year anniversary is a big thing for ANY band... i'm sure they will want to celebrate it in their home country. and if they come to the US to celebrate it, i'm going to think that they are truely crazy. <.<; well, who ever came up with the idea, at any rate.....
though, they did say that they are wanting to come back in feb. to do a headlining tour in the US and Canada.... and, Warcon also said that they are working on getting more Japanese bands signed over so that they can hold a massive Japanese tour in the states..... with Diru as the main headliner..... ☝ i hope that they can... i would be to every show in Texas, Oklahoma (if they come here), and possibly even Kansas. 😌 they are well worth it. 😊 *shifty eyes* don't judge me~! .... okay... not really.... 😌 though, i would try to go to all the shows in the area..... along with hana and shikami... :-)

the PV: i can't really give an opinion yet... i'm still waiting on it to finish loading... *kicks connection* stupid dial-up.... i was told it was going to be high speed, which is what i'm used to, and i got stuck with dial-up..... *kills whoever came up with the idea of dail-up*
(a few minutes later)
☝ wow... i'm going to have to get that when it becomes available.... it is very good... when you said it reminded you of "Take on me", i thought it would be wierd... like "JESSICA" wierd.... but it wasn't that bad.... i liked that better than i did the PV for "JESSICA"... oh well.... i still can't wait until it is completed.

I hope they play here in the States, by themselves or not. But it IS their 10th ann. so I don't think they'll be coming here, at least on Feb.2

ROCK ON DIRU!!!!! 10 YEARS OF KICK @SS ROCK!!!!!! wootwoot^^ maybe I shouldn't be saying that yet....oh well ><

waah! i'm so confused! i just got back from chicago so i'm outta the loop.
oh but nothing has been "official", right?

Nope nothing is official just rumors, but as I always say don't believe it unless it's up on Dir en grey's OHP or on FWA's site, but even FWA is iffy. I'd stick with just Diru's OHP even though they don't always update it ASAP.

Sorry, I have to go back to your earlier topic ^^. I can't see why Shinya is the least popular as you said, is is because he's so shy and all? I think it's a positive thing.I love his sense of humour, good looks and amazing drumming skills. Shy people are just so adorable and for me Shinya is perfect :-)
Of course he's little different from other members - they all are pretty tough guys, and most of the listeners maybe too 😊 Maybe Shinya is too sissy for them. But yeah, I thought he has lots of fans..
I remember he said that he'll reveal all of his secrets when turning 30. Hopefully he does that, can't wait x)

Hmm, I've always like Shinya, I think his enigmatic nature is really hot! He's such a talented drummer, maybe that's why he doesn't share his secrets, so that way people focus more on his skiils rather than who he's dating. And I wonder what's up with that HOB thing......

the concert thing is confusing. It's also pretty annoying because unless they know everything for sure they shouldn't be posting it on any website. The same thing happened with one of the germany concerts and they we're told if they kept talking about it before it was officially announced they'd cancel the show altogether or that's what people have told me earlier this year that live over in germany.

With Shinya I think it's because he's always so hidden and shy that not many people actually do notice him enough to like him, where as with the rest of the members their always noticeable and always seen that the fans get to know them better then they do with shinya.

hmmm... it only makes sense for them to perform in Japan... then again, Japan has Feb. 12 a whole 14 hours before we do... if they perform in Japan in the afternoon, then get on to a plane and fly to the states, then they could still perform late night in HOB... provided they are smart enough to sleep on the plane on the way here. <.<;;; i hope they don't do that... it would really be too much. they would be so exhausted, i wouldn't be surprised if they -all- had accidents if they did that.

as for Shinya.... i don't think it's because he's 'sissy'... he actually seems to be rather strong, and the fact that he has studied martial arts since he was 6 only adds to that fact..... i think it is like Riyko said... he's just too quiet and hidden for very many fans to notice...... and in the case of my friend hana liking him... a pic of him was the first thing she ever knew of Diru, and she fell in love with him, and then the music grew on her. but, still, he is the one she really notices.

"Next time Dir en grey comes back, Die said with a smile, "we want to bring out full production from Japan so people here can experience what Japanese fans are able to experience back home!"

GAH makes my heart race. Can't wait until the come back!

Yeah I'm so excited he said that! GAH! I really hope they follow through with that.

It's a shame they don't want to talk about their visual kei past though...

^I think that so many people nagged them about it that they got sick of it. Some people just won't let the past rest and maybe that's why Diru doesn't want to talk it about it. Everyone focuses on it too much. I like their present better than their VK days anyways :joyful:

I can't wait for them to come back to the States so I can finally see them. I wonder why they left their VK days.....but I'm not gonna go fan-girl crazy over it, I'm happy with how they are. Maybe it's a good thing they don't talk about their views on VK, because then they would get more bashing about leaving it. Like if they said they respected it people would be like "so why did you leave it then?" and if they said otherwise people would say "then why did you do it in the first place" I dunno, that's jusy my opinion, I just hope people will leave them alone about it now.....

Thanks for the interview - it's pretty good imo! :) not much question about the actual music but i guess they had only a short time.

Sorry to drag it up again but I have a theory as to why they might have left the VK scene.
It appears that in Japan VK is seen very much as a teenybopper thing.
Remember whem the Backstreet Boys did that video where they dressed up in costumes and ran around a haunted house?
VK is often viewed like that.
So I think that Deg probably got tired of this connection and wanted to be taken as a serious band, hence the change.
Or they might have just grown out of it, like people do.
Now, I quite liked their VK stuff but I like their new stuff too.
So as long as their music stays kickass, I will always be a Dir en grey fan!😌

@ Nana007 : Thanks for the interview! ^^

@ MorningMasamune : Yeah, that could be it >.< Btw, I LOVE your avatar!! XP XD ^^

'So as long as their music stays kickass, I will always be a Dir en grey fan!' -- YAAH! I agree with that!!! XP

Thank you! I think I got it off an LJ called jrock_icons.

Actually I have always thought of VK bands as a type of Boy Band. Mostly because 90% of the fans are female. Just like with a Boy Band.

But then I have always thought Japan a bit weird because All Girl Groups Like Morning Musume and others, the fans are usually male. Wotas they are called.

For me I think Dir en grey left VK so they could be taken seriously and not be viewed as a "Boy Band"

I liked that interview more because it talked more about their music and the tour.
