Dir en grey

I like Toshiyas hair no matter what color it is. Why does his hair color really matter, if you like him as a bassist then his hair color or anything else shouldn't really matter. I don't know if you we're being sarcastic about his hair or not, but it gets a bit annoying after a while hearing people complain about toshiyas hair and facial hair when he had it, kyo and kaorus facial hair.

That's my 2 cents about that subject.
 
i like Toshiyas new hair....i do prefer the old look though..XD

Nope i'm fine with opinions please put your input in on it. I admit that I prefer toshiya with his vulgar hair style the black and red, but I'm ok with him changing his hair color it's mysterious or maybe i'm just weird XD
 
Yeah, jrockers should be able to experiment with styles like we do, I think Totch looks different with the blonde hair, but I don't hate it. As long as we know he is a talented and beautiful man that's all that matters
 
Hey, i don't have anything against Totchi's bass playing, in fact i think he's brilliant on the bass. I just don't like his current hairstyle, but it doesn't make me love him any less. Totchi's Totchi man, you gotta love him no matter what crazy thing he's doing currently :-)
 
Riyko: i don't know if this is going to make any sense, but i'm going to try anyway... this is my view on this matter..... you're right, it shouldn't matter what color his hair is as long as we all know that he is an amazing bassist and a good person, and that we all like him for that. what i was saying though, is that we have seen him do better with his hair, and he is the one (presumably) who is big on the way he looks, so it was rather ironic seeing him go out with blonde hair. at one time, i was very interested to see him blonde, then it happened, and suddenly i was kicking myself for thinking that he would look good that way. 😊 no matter who they are, there are people who do things that do not suit them... this is one of those times for Toshiya. the blonde hair just doesn't suit him. that'd be like Kaoru or Die going with lime green hair.... it just wouldn't suit them. Totchi didn't look too bad with the facial hair, granted it did take getting used to seeing it. and, i have tried to get used to the blonde and tried to like it, but if you put him with dark hair (any color) and him with blonde hair in front of me, i'm going to pay more attention to him with dark hair. this is a matter of opinion, as is my stating that i wish he would go back to the darker colors. i don't care if it is black, blue, brown, black and red, hell, i wouldn't even care if it were purple, so long as it was no longer blonde. and, i have no problems with him changing his hair color, i just wish he would stay away from bleach.... besides, if he wasn't doing some crazy, off the wall something, it would give everyone addiquate reason to worry about his health or something.... i doubt that i would believe he was healthy if he didn't do something wierd.... :eek: hm.. like i said, i don't know if that makes any sense...... if not, i'm sorry... i was trying to keep my fingers moving as fast as my thoughts.
 
Well no matter what, celebrities will have their looks critiqued by the public. That's a fact. I don't think it's a big thing unless people get too obsessed about the looks and forget about the talent.

But you know what, image does have a lot to do with the entertainment world. How many people have gotten into Diru because of their looks and how many were turned off to Diru because of their looks? So even though image shouldn't be what a musician should be judged on, it is a big deal.

But of course with us already being huge Diru fans, we don't care how they look just the music they produce. Right? lol
 
I was just giving my opinion on it and going on livejournal when there'd be 20-30 posts a day about how Toshiya looks like a mexican drug lord with his facial hair or that he needs to learn how to do his hair so it's not fizzy does tend to get annoying and then about how Kaoru and Kyo just aren't the same people with the facial hair.

It makes you really think do people actually like them for their music or just for their looks not saying that any of you guys are like that. That was more of what I was trying to get at, but i'm not really good at describing it.

I'll admit it took me a bit to get used to a few of their looks, but the thing I noticed the most we're their outfits more then their face and hair because to me it's the same person just with a new and different look. Everyone is different by what they judge a band on, me it's music if they can't make music it'll turn me off of the band more then their looks.
 
so true!!! I think it's kinda sad how ALOT of people abandon GREAT bands like Diru and others just because they aren't VK anymore......I'm sure that's happened alot. People are just too dependant on looks now and days....kinda makes you wonder doesn't it?
 
To me, it would sort of make sense if that was part of the reason they changed from they're old vk look. I mean, they're still really visual, but not necesarily stereo-typical visual kei. When they stopped dressing like they used to, they did lose fans. But maybe that's a good thing, since that would mean that those fans were just into the looks and nothing else, right? It would be like weeding out the fans that don't really care about the music or the band in general.
I don't think that there's anything wrong with liking the image of a band, but when something like them dressing differently causes one to not like them at all anymore, it just makes me wonder if they even listened to the music in the first place. Shouldn't the music be what's important in a band foremost? Everything else matters too, but I think the music should be what's most important.
...Okay, I'll shut up now. XD
 
☝ Mexican drug lord..? o.O;; wow... i think that is a bigger insult than calling him female.... 😌 and, you're right, as long as we all know that their music is good, then the way that they look really doesn't matter... it just makes for somewhat interesting conversation starters. :eek: i don't think that came out the way i wanted it to, but i'm not really sure how to word it so that it will. and, a lot of their 'fans' left when the music that they were making started to mature and take on a heavier sound. though i can see why that would make people turn from them, i don't really understand how it really made that much difference.... i mean, it was still the same band, and it's not like they warped over to a more poppy sound, so hearing people complain about the new sound diru was putting out was really irritating. then again, i started out with music from all eras, rather than just the VK and then going out and buying the WTD cd, so i really can't say if it was a big deal or not..... 😌 though, another reason it shouldn't have been was the fact that they kind of weened the fans into the direction their music was going... adding a little more with each new song, single, and album.

they ARE the same people. who ever says otherwise needs to grow up. just because they let their faces grow out a little doesn't make them different people. Kaoru is still the Leader-sama, and Kyo is still his twisted little bundle of energy self. a little extra hair isn't going to change that.

not trying to sound like i'm harping on him, considering he's my favorite member, but Toshiya has definately gone with clothes to make me wonder what drug he took.... o.O; yes, i know that they don't do drugs, it is sarcasm..... :eek: i know that if i didn't say something to clarify that, i would have had people commenting on that. i've already *coughfinallycough* gotten used to Kaoru's facial hair, and Kyo's wasn't to difficult to get used to... and i've already stated that i got used to seeing it on Totchi... but, at the rate i'm going, by the time i get used to seeing him with blonde hair, he'll be about ready to change it again... if he hadn't already done so. 😊 and, yeah... they did have outfits that they could have gone ages without wearing.... :eek:

hmm... my friend Hana was turned onto the band by the first pic of Shinya that she saw, but she has yet to turn them away for anything. 😌 i showed her a pic of him, and she liked that, so i offered to let her listen to them, and the music just kinda grew on her.... 😊
but, what i was originally going for with my last post was that the bands are basically like friends that we watch from afar <at least, with me they are>, and would you really let your friend go out if you knew that they didn't look their best? hmm... i don't think that annalogy really helped too much.... ☝ nevermind....
 
Diru lost fans after Vulgar came out because people didn't like the western influence on their music, every band has to change their style of music if it stays the same then it'll get boring hearing the same thing over and over again and they'll lose alot more fans in the end because the new songs won't be a shock or suprise to the fans.

Musicians are people too, their just doing what they love to do and it is sad that because their well known for their music their looks really matter and it's the major focus of them like Precious4e said. They are people and can't look good 24/7 they have their off days just like people.

When I said that musicians are people too was a reply to what you we're saying about how they are people and I was adding on to that saying that because media gives too much attention to looks people play off of that and think that musicians or anyone who's in the spotlight to look good 24/7 otherwise their's something wrong with them.

I never said Diru is westernized and I know that they aren't westernized, alot of their old japanese fans didn't like Vulgar because they said that it was influenced by the western music too much. I think that their music is still japanese influence, but if people don't like it because they think it's too westernized you can't really do anything about it =/
 
That's all very true. My friend stopped listening to Diru after a while because she said they were becoming Americanized. Here's my thought about the whole thing:
How can bands be Americanized if their influences WERE from American/European bands in the first place? Didn't jrock bands listen to American bands and say that they were their influence? I mean I'm not saying jrock bands never had their own style when it came to their music, but it was never completely their's to begin with, they just built up on it. And yes, the fact that fans stopped listening to them for not liking their new look is good, because it does show who the band's true fans are, I just find it sad how some base their opinions on bands soley for their looks and not their talent. My other friend would be all like "I LOOOVE DIR EN GREY!!!" ONLY because she liked Toshiya, she NEVER listened to their music or even learned the other member's names....so I gave up hope on her XD.

Well *stepping in with both feet lol* I don't care what the guys look like as long as their music is good. :-) I just gave my opinion on Toshiya's hair, my opinion is that black or dark-brown hair suits him best, and there is the end of it as far as I am concerned... I don't give a monkeys if he dyes his hair all the colours of the rainbow; I might still have my view on what I think looks best on him but it doesn't make me like the music any less or like him any less. 😌

I had a dream last night about Diru - the first time I've ever had a dream involving Jrock! 😲 Or more specifically Kyo. And it was horrible. *shivers* Just my luck, when I finally dream about some hot Jrocker, why can't I dream about something nice?!?!? :(

I heard a rumor, that Dir en grey got in trouble with Sony because of the new single's cover. Instead of what it is now, it had Babies on it or something like that. And that the release might be delayed because they have to reprint the cover.

Hey, anybody on here hear the rumor about all of Dir en grey's stuff being taken off YouTube? If someone could tell me if it's true and why they're doing it I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks.
 
I thought the band just asked for the recordings fans took during the concert to be taken off and they only asked cause some people said they wouldn't.......... last time i cheacked all their stuff was still up
