(2a) This is the room for students to study chemistry.
(2b) This is the room where students study chemistry.
(2c) This is the room in which students study chemistry.

(3) Japanese houses are usually made of wood.

(4) Many people who works on cacao farms have never eaten chocolate.

1a is maybe not wrong, but awkward.

(1a') In Japan, most schools started on June 1 of this year.
(1a'') In Japan, most schools started on June 1st of this year.

(1b) (1c) June 1 / June 1st are both acceptable without rephrasing.

2a is awkward.
2b is natural.
2c is stiff and 'bookish'.

3 is fine.

4 is as johnnyG says.
