Hi I`m Marimo who is a Japanese studying English with this web site.

Today, I would like to ask your advice,

My boyfriend ,who is living in Canada, is coming to Japan in March.
But I have no idea where I should take him either, what I should show him.
I would like to ask you ...
When you first came to Japan, what made you surprised and moved?

I am living in Nara, Kansai area.
I am thinking to take him to Kyoto , Osaka, Kobe and somewhere another place in Kanto area.
Do you have any recommend?

He has never been to any Asian countries.

Thanks for helping me. :)

if he gets there in time you should take him to a good place for the sakura. im sure hed enjoy watching the cherry blossoms with you.

Hi Marimo,

I would definitely focus on traditional Japanese culture, and such places as Kyoto and Nara would be perfect. Take him to a festival if you can too. If you have the time/money, a trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima would be a good idea. Staying overnight at a temple would be a great experience too.

Japanese Guest Houses | Experience the Beauty, Cuisine, and Art of Japan by staying at a Carefully Selected Traditional Japanese Ryokan Inns.

  • I recommend Mt Koya in Wakayama Prefecture:
  • A Japanese "onsen" is wonderful and in the Kansai I can recommend Kurama Onsen in Kyoto:
  • There are also some good onsen in Wakayama:
  • If you are doing some travelling, Takayama and nearby Shirakawago would be high on my list too. I've spent the day in Shirakawago and spent a night in a Japanese "gassho-zukuri" which was a lot of fun:

Have fun,
Lester

IT'S BEEN 30 YEARS.......

since I've been to Japan, but some things I remember like yesterday. My visit to Kumamoto Castle, a visit to an onsen spa, a visit to a giant sculptured garden, cherry blossoms, a visit to a goldfish farm, and last but not least, touring Nagasaki.

I think to a foreigner, new to Japan, everything was fascinating. I even enjoyed going to slum sections and dirty beaches because I had not seen anything like them !

Being with you and doing things with you will be all he needs !!

Frank

He in coming the end of March to for 2 weeks.
I think it depends on the temourature to see the cherry blossoms .
Fortunely it is warmer this year, so i think i can take him to the Osaka castl and make him surpise with blooming cherry blossoms.
thank you,Jsisan - san
