Hello everbody,

I'm Amy.I am using the Mac OS X and is
Japanese-enabled.I can view Japanese
website and other stuffs.But when
one of my friends send a Japanese
e-mail to my free web-based e-mail
provider, I can't seem to read it.

It looked so weird like a code or something
like X@@@AA@.....
I can't make anything out of it.
What should I do now?
Should I tell him to send the document in
attachment or should I add something to my
Internet Explorer so I can read the e-mail?

Thanks.😄

It sounds most like a strain of mojibake (garbled characters). I'm Japanese enabled through Microsoft as well, but you get it with certain combinations of servers. Anyway, you can use this program as a fix to clear everything up.

Try manually setting the character encoding to Japanese in your browser when you have the email up. Try the different settings (Auto Detect, Shift-JIS, etc.) and see if any of them work.
