what's the difference in nuance between A and B?
(A) Can you open the door, please?
(B) Will you open the door, please?

(a) is of course not "correct" because it literally means "are you able" (出来るか) but colloquially, it means the same thing.
Also commonly used is Could you open the door, please?

(a) is a little more polite than (b). There are a couple other variations that are a little more polite. Are you familiar with these other variations?
