Can someone help explain this sentence?

'冬になると夏が恋しくなりますし、夏になると冬が恋あ ｵくなりますね。'

I understand the words in it, but from what I see, apart from 'し', both lines are pretty much the same isn't it?

Why is it repeated twice?

Well, the seasons are flipped, so each half means basically the opposite. (冬になると vs. 夏になると)

So basically it means ' likes/yearns for the transitions into winter and summer and the seasons themselves?' (I understand the nuance but I can't think of a perfect-fit translation at the moment for koishiku.)

になると is a conditional - are you familiar with と conditionals? 冬になると basically means "When it becomes winter..." or "When winter comes..."

Start off by translating 冬になると夏が恋しくなります. There is no yearning for the transitions.

Oh. I read it off as 'fuyu ni naru' 'to' 'natsu' 'ga koishiku ni narimasu', instead of 'fuyu' 'ni naru to' 'natsu ga koishiku ni narimasu'.

It all makes more sense to me now, thanks alot!

It's more likely "fuyu ni naru to" "natsu ga koishiku narimasu". To parse "fuyu" "ni naru to" doesn't make much sense. (Nekojita-san just explained about a structure ～になると.)

It's "koishiku narimasu", not "koishiku ni narimasu", by the way.
