Hey I got this girl that i am trying to start a relationship with and some of the other people came up with the idea of getting her a flower but i dont know anything about Japanese flowers or about what the diffrent colors mean.[thread]10574[/thread] So could someone read this thread and help me out?

Don't sweat it.

Any girl is bright enough to figure out what is up when any guy gives her a flower. Just so long as you didn't obviously pull them off a grave, they don't really care if you got the color right.

Does anyone got any ideas on what kind of flowers to get her?

Something unique. Not roses. Maybe tulips, tiger lillies, daisies, etc. I go for something other than roses. I think it's nice to get something different.

maybe a crysanthemum, is a traditional japanese flower.

I'm a ****** for roses, but it depends on the type of girl.

EDIT:: why do they censor the word s u c k e r??:: :?

Well, it's certainly an extremely low-level cuss word if it is even considered one at all. That's weird, I wonder why it's edited too.

I certainly never thought of it as a 'cuss'. New one on me. I've always known it was bleeped out on here, though. Just say lollipop! :p

That is what my wife would tell me too, but I know that if I buy flowers she doesn't like, that doesn't make her very happy, and if I have the misfortune to buy flowers she had told me she didn't like (but had forgotten about it), then she would be almost angry, saying that I don't really care about her because I can't remember the particular flowers she likes (not those I like).

Sorry, but this certainly doesn't incite me to buy her flowers so often anymore, and she is responsible for it. That makes me even more more uncomfortable about buying her presents, as I have always been over-anxious in choosing the right thing and over-affraid at the idea of buying something to someone that they might not like.

That is all for my rant about flowers and presents for girls.

Have you tried telling your wife that you put more effort into choosing her gift than anyone else's?

I'm not married, but I think that'd be at least bring a smile to her face.

Your problem, you see, was that you bought her flowers often enough that she started to take them for granted.

Try saying, "None of the other women I give flowers to ever complain about what kind they are."

Yikes, Maciamo.

I would be elated if my husband bought me flowers, no matter what kind. Even if he picked the clover from outside! I haven't gotten flowers in ages! ☝

😊
When buying flowers, I buy for two types of occasions.
One would be a special event, I would most likely go with roses, red sometimes white.

Second would be just cuz i'm feeling...giddy 😌 I like to buy vibrant color flowers yet not so loud that its killin her. Just something colorful ya know. And not a bunch just like 2 or 4. Something big but not too big to let her know that i was thinking bout her.

😊 I guess i'm just old school.

Personally I don't like cut flowers - it seems morbid to me to just watch them die. I prefer potted plants, but I also realize that not everyone has a green thumb.

In this situation though, I think it's the gesture that counts. If she doesn't appreciate the effort, she also doesn't appreciate you. Good luck.

Oh, and yes, chrysanthemums are definitely NOT appropriate, as they are mainly used in funerals. A carnation would be linked to mother's day, which may also not be the kind of message you're going for. ;-)
