Theres been some controversy over this in the UK. It's violent, savage but in my opinion, entertaining. No holds barred, anything goes. So what do you think?
Barbaric and bloodthirsty? Or entertaining and challenging?

Great stuff, Its good to see two men fighting it out fist to fist. Entertaining well im not sure I myself am more interested in the technical aspect of the two contestants. Watching how they react with their knowlage of the martial art that they have studied.

I do however think it should only be shown on TV after 9pm on selected channels only. It is not good for young kids to be watching and getting ideas from this sort of stuff.

I, personally, would have no interest in watching two people fighting as violence is quite repulsive to me. But there is no reason that people who do enjoy watching it shouldn't be able to. It's just a matter of personal taste.

The people who do this "fighting" are aware of the rules and so forth, so I don't care if they kill each other in the end. Dog fighting on the other hand is repulsive and disgusting.

Uncle Frank, I'm sure that deep down, most of our members are peaceful folk with little interest in ripping someone limb from limb with their bare hands. It is true that some discussions may get quite heated at times, but it is all in good fun, no?

On topic - The only fighting I enjoy is collegiate wrestling and greco roman wrestling. In these "fights" you win more by skill than by beating the pulp out of your opponent. The bloodiest it gets is a broken nose, and even then, its usually accidental. I don't think purposefully trying to injure/kill someone is all that entertaining. However, if both parties know the risks and want to go ahead, there's nothing we can do to stop them. Some people just have a lust for blood, I guess.

I enjoy some of the fights, but i hate the ones where a guy falls down and the other guy jumps on him and punches him in the back of the head.

I often wonder how traditional martial arts fares compared to mixed martial arts (cage fighting).

To hard for me. I enjoy watching Pride and K1, but cage fighting goes to far for me.

A couple of years ago I was watching some "too hard to handle" (I think that's the name of the video's), and there was this guy who got hit on the nose while he was laying down. I think he got about 10 to 15 punshes, and it was clear that he was out. So in my opinion his opponent would stop and walk away or a refferee would come in to stop the match. But ....

After hitting him in the face with his punches, the guy started to kick him with his feet for about 5 time until the referee stoped the match... Just too hot too handle for me.

I think the pinnacle of martial arts competition would be the now defunct Pride FC. Nowhere else did honour, competition, showmanship and talent come together so well. I've seen some of these other cage fighting association fights on the internet and none of them stack up. The UFC would be the closest approximation but it's still a far cry from Pride. Overall I find the classic ring format much more enjoyable and the Pride rules more conducive to exciting fights.

Watching two humans beat each other to a pulp with no hold barred is just barbaric IMO and the people who enjoy watching it also probably enjoy watching two dogs tear each other apart or two cocks for that matter or enjoy watching a helpless bull be speared to death. It makes no sense to me why someone would enjoy this. I guess deep down inside there is still that animalistic instinct within humans. If this is what is considered macho let me off the bus.

It isn't no hold barred. It is a regulated sport. Weight classes, rules, judges , referees, scoring.

I takes a tremendous amount of skill and probably the most amount of conditioning of any sport.

Former Olympic wrestlers(medalists), Olympic Judoka(medalists as well) compete in this sport.

I don't particularly like or hate this kinda thing. Its really their decision, and they can only blame themselves.
I personally find most martial arts boring as hell, the two I like are judo and wrestling. Also im hesitant about another one, whether its considered a sport. Castle games. Now thats amazing imo. Its painful, its manly, its hard, but these days people don't end up dead. Its not as elegant as eastern martial arts, but its so savage. If they allowed thrusts it would be a lot more interesting... but yeah, obviously not many would compete lol.
