I guess from now on, Indian restaurant owners will invest more in their business' security: A burglar specialising in breaking into Indian restaurants was arrested in Nara.

The reason for targetting Indian restaurants: they had lax security and closed their restaurants with cash in the registers.

A man accused of repeatedly burglarising Indian restaurants in Japan where mainly foreign nationals work has told police he targeted them "to earn a living because security is lax (at such eateries) compared to establishments where Japanese people work." [...] Yamamoto is accused of breaking into a closed Indian restaurant in Kitamoto, Saitama Prefecture, using a crowbar between the predawn hours and the morning of 23 April. He stole 63,850 JPY (about USD 435) from the cash register and other items. Yamamoto had previously been arrested and indicted on charges including theft for stealing cash from an Indian eatery in the city of Nara in May. A hat was found at a restaurant in Saitama Prefecture, and a connection emerged from DNA on it. According to the police station, Yamamoto explained that he targeted Indian restaurants "because many of them were not under a contract with a security company and closed with money left in the cash register." Since this spring, similar incidents have been confirmed at more than 100 businesses in eight prefectures, including Nepalese and Sri Lankan eateries, and police are investigating whether there is a connection.

I've never seen a lunch buffet here in Japan. Does one exist?
Well I haven't spent that much time in the boonies but in Tokyo they are not so hard to find. When I lived there my boss was Indian as were many of my coworkers so I probably had Indian buffet for lunch at least every other week if not weekly.
Here's one.
