I was looking over my DVD collection the other day (which has a hearty mix of east and west), and there are a few stinkers in there. I mean, we all know about American films that probably shouldn't have been made (the list is far too long to put here), but I was just curious as to what Asian movies that you guys have watched and wished you hadn't?

I have a couple that really sucks (which I'll shortly be selling on eBay or something).

I think my problem is that I tend to buy DVDs rather than rent them or go to the cinema (there's no rental shop near me, and the cinemas around my way have sticky floors (!!!) and rarely show eastern films anyway) so I end up buying the odd cr@p movie.
Here are a couple of Asian films I wished I'd never seen!

1. Princess Blade
2. Ring 0 😴
3. Battle Royale 2 (mostly because it marred the image of the first one!!!)

Anyway, your thoughts?

I agree on you about BR2 and your reason. I liked Ring 0.
The heroic trio was bad, and there was a bloody sequal.

i found Ring 0 reeeaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ssssssssssssssssllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and dragged out to fill 90 odd minutes.
I was really gutted with BR2, i wanted to like it so much, i almost convinced myself it was good...but then really slapped me like a wet fish.
'isayhello' this is probably a dumb question but is Suicide Circle cool? i just ordered it from eBay and am really looking forward to it. i also ordered ju-on2 and a film called seance (? if anyone knows what it's like gimme a shout!). ju-on will come out in the uk eventually but i'm sure the others won't. god bless my really cheap multi-region DVD player!!!!!!!

Audition.

I was at the video store with one of my friends from Japanese class one day and we decided to rent this movie simply because it was in Japanese (we didn't even really bother to read the box or anything). At first we thought it was just some kind of sappy romantic film, but wow, does it get disturbing at the end.

yeah, it does catch you off guard a bit...unfortunately, reading the back of the box does line you up to suspect something funky going on...as does various reviews and quotes etc.

Battle Royal 1 & 2

hehe..... has anyone read the book Battle Royal? The book is way better than the movie. It's got better character development and a deeper plot. Battle Royal 2 was the biggest let-down. I was so dissapointed  There are a couple of new Movies that I want to see.

Cat's Eye and Love Letter

I have to admit that I rarely see Asian films. However, there were still so many Chinese movies I wish I hadn't seen.

Japanese movies? I usually don't expect much from them. Nevertheless, J-movies like "Cat's Eye" and "Love Letter" were so bad that they surprised me.

hmmm....i havent seen one i wished i hadnt watched...j-horror doesnt frighten me but entertains me with the deep dark thoughts of the human mind and i kinda wished i hadnt seen dark water for the one reason i needed a piss the whole way through and didnt wanan go out my cinema...

If you look on ebay you can find the original made for TV movies of Ju-on. This is how I got mine. Never heard of Seance. I think Suicide Club is alright, a bit weird in the middle to end, but an enjotable film. My DVD is also cheap mutli-regional, great aren't they? 🙂

Got the book and read it several times. Books normally allow the author to develop characters and go into plot more in depth, although the manga is pretty good as well. I think it is about 12 volumes long. Waiting for No.11 to turn up. I also recommend Koji Suzuki's Ring

I have bought the book but haven't started to read it yet. I have a few days off work over Easter, so I will probably try to read it then!
Chiaki LMAO about dark water post! Next time just let it go...the floors in cinemas are so sticky no one would ever know! Just wear dark clothes!
Mycernius...cheap DVD players are the best thing since cheap Asian DVDs! I'd never heard of seance, but what the hey...it was cheap and had blood on the cover (not literally!).

Ju-on (grudge 2) turned up today...gonna wait for my other films and have a 'film-a-thon' one day when i'm not at work...lots of crisps and tooth rotting sweets and probably plenty of beer!

Done that many a time. Few beers, lights off, no-one in the house. Drank an entire bottle of whisky once watching The Doors and The Hitcher. Of course I don't do anything like that 🙂 now! Honest!

hmm speaking of movies has anyone seen the movie intensity , its great and i really like the dean koontz book as well ...:: currently reading sole survivor by koontz ::

hehe...something like that. i think i'll have to let my girlfriend watch with me...she's getting too strong for her chains and i can still hear her shouting from the shed!
wow, the hitcher...now that's a movie i haven't seen in years...from what i remember it was one of those films that is good and bad at the same time!!!
getting tricky not to watch grudge 2...may have to succumb (sp?) tonight!

haven't seen it man...but my mother is a huge fan of the books! i believe she has read sole survivor, and probably ever other flipping book by him!

yeah my mum loves his books...i can ask her to recommend any if you want (P.M. me otherwise i won't remember!)
by the way...i watch Jun-On: The Grudge 2 last night....man, that is one really cool film!!!

i believe one of her favourite ones...and one of the only ones to scare her is 'Rats'. i will ask her sometime...and if i don't...send me a message to remind me (terrible memory)

I really, really wish I hadn't seen "Cannibalist Kyoza 人肉蠻頭" I hated every minute of viewing it. Time ill-spent ! 😭

I saw 'Evil Dead Trap', and that was awful. Bad storytelling and effects and it has a rape scene, which I always have trouble watching.

They even made a sequel to this load of toss!

Otenki onesan. The Weather woman one and two. Even drunken we didnt enjoy it, sure we laughed at the stupidity... but really they both sucked.
I rather liked the disturbingness of Audition.

i watched alive and skyhigh back to back and they gave me a really bad nightmare
no more paying to watch kitamura ryuhei movies for me

cursed is just plain ridiculous, although it did introduce sato hiroko

I wish i hadn't seen Visitor Q. I think that movie gave me brain damage.

I agree with Smoke about Princess Blade. That was a serious yawner. I've seen better looking girls in manga than the actress who starred in that dog of a movie. What a waste of celluloid!
