are you prepared for the worst?

This is in reflection to all that has gone down this past year, but are you ready for say a danger (i dont want to say examples), but isn't in our best interests that we are prepared that such events may actually occur?
how many of you are actually ready for such things?
Or how many of you just wash it off your back and say "its no going to happen to me" and are any of you like this?

We should live freely and to our best interests but we should always ensure that we are able to do so.

I know I am not prepared for the next "big one" to strike. (Earthquake) I know it's coming, and I'm sure that it will be in my lifetime, or at least I am fully cognizant that it could happen even as I type this. But yet I am not prepared...I want to, and yet...if it's not one thing, it's another preventing. I suppose I should get more serious about it. I mean, look at what happened in New Orleans. I have no family to go to, either...

Mentally, I am constantly prepared for the worst. Physically, I am completely, totally and utterly unprepared. I guess I'd say I'm a philosophical pessimist.

I'm like Kinsao. I am always expecting something terrible to happen, but if it did I wouldn't have a clue what to do. My dad used to be the guy in charge of organising everyone in the (very local) area in case of a disaster. I don't know who does it now.

I Used To Be......

a real "survivlist" even subscribed to a couple of magazines on it. I have a cellar full of gear , things like gas masks and suits for nuke fallout. I have 2 big 12 volt batteries to run TV's & radios, guns , tons of ammo, water , freeze dried meals, etc. . Most of it has been there for 20 years or more and never had a chance to use any of it. Sometimes it's almost discourageing not to get a disaster, darn it!

I'm of the belief that it's impossible to be prepared for every eventuality. That's when the totally unexpected jumps up to bite you in the *** like a bear trap. I'm lucky to live in Philadelphia which is one hundred miles from the nearest ocean (the Atlantic) and the block I live on is four miles from the nearest body of water (the Schuykill River). In terms of weather related catastrophes, I fear snowstorms more than hurricanes. Case in point: back in January of 1996, states along the eastern seaboard from DC to Massachusetts got an astonishing 30 inches of snow in one day! However, there's no anticipating or predicting what Mother Nature will do, which is why we'll always be at her mercy, no mater where you live.
