Anyome else been harassed by McTojo post-ban ?

Some lunatic sent this in my mailbox three days ago. I took out the formatting that was used, it ends up looking like jibberish at every line break.

I can't believe that I wasn't given the opportunity to defend myself on JREF bhecause of people like you, Lexicon and Maciamo ! You guys can't handle the truth and have nothing on me . I am a pro right wing nationalist that was unfairly banned for no reason .

You need to get with the program !

I have three things to say:
1- He was justly banned and sadly, I'll have to rethink about publishing my e-mail address on forums because of it.
2- There is no constitutional amendment from any nation or even the unwritten one for the internet that allowed for the legalization of acting like a sack of cow dung.
3- I am proud to be viewed on a level as great as lexico and Maciamo.

He should have been disposed of sooner, facts being that he's registered to so many "Japan-* forums" (Even JapanToday as Be Careful), goofs off there like he did here. (He speaks for the Japanese, With an aol.com e-mail, which out of forum decency, I won't leak... *yet*...)

Anyways, I found out that he was a blatant idiot the moment he asked in reply *what is "2ch" ?* when simple googling wold show an actual BBS in Japanese, next only to Usenet in size.

Please never rescind this ban, and if he "alts" here, take care of it quickly. Thanks.

He's masqueraded as my uncle (username: lastmagisuncle; I actually thought it was kinda cute) and wrote me a PM using a new sn: sicpoly. Latter was nothing really big, and I couldn't really tell it was him as, it only said :

I give out my email address willy-nilly - you can always block people if they start sending you spam or some such. Ah, the beauty of the internet...

I never noticed that to be honest, but I'm sure even if I saw that user name I'd know better to think he was Lastmagi's uncle. McTojo always seemed a like a juvenile to begin with so either he's a teenager with problems and wanting attention, or he's an adult with serious issues. Either way he's annoying to say the least.

I don't think it'S very easy to get banned here, and he did have a chance to defend himself, as I recall. He just didn't or couldn't take advantage of it.

I'm with Doc. I don't like to make my email address too public. It's kind of like your phone number. At least it is in my mind.

That is pretty messed up, emailing people. He PM'd me while he was still a member after I criticized him on one of the threads, which struck me as odd.

I guess its probably better not to put your email address out there. Never know what kind of sicko stalkers might make you their personal project.

I must confess - I did receive a rather innocuous, yet "snarkey" PM from a junior member (username="Yokachin") - who seemed to register and make all of his/her posts on the same day! (November14)

Banned members can still log on as guests - ie see the forum and anything accessable to non-members but not post. Thus, if your e-mail is listed in your profile, they have access to it.

Sometimes people get a second username and try their old tricks. Usually staff is pretty good about catching them (McTojo did re-register as lastmagisuncle, but was found within a few posts and banned again) Of course there are ways around our bag of tricks, but once a troll always a troll and they usually end up getting kicked again for bad behavior.

That said, if you suspect someone is using two names, use the "report bad post" - the triangle icon with the ! mark - or PM a mod and it will be checked out. Just don't feed the flames by calling them out in public.

I think (and this is my hunch, mine is not to reason why...) JREF bans by user name because a fair number of you guys log on from internet cafes etc. or from school where banning an IP address could knock out a number of forumites with one hit.

People here are pretty good about not feeding the trolls that stop buy and the ones that don't go away on their own get booted. Trust me, when we boot someone, we watch for similar posting styles for several days to weeks after and if something comes up, we trace it and see if it stands to reason they are one in the same, or just two mutations of the same genetic disorder.

There are many software programs that block your IP number and other info to allow "anonymously surf the web" as they put it. Then there are a million sites that offer fake IP addresses and fake E-Mail addresses you can not trace back to the original owner, for a small fee. Seems a persistent pest would be hard to block; thank goodness not too many of them go to the trouble of using the above methods. I agree with Mandylion; no matter what the user name, their writing style gives them away and gets them banned again.

It just seems stupid to me.
