Am I an otaku?

like I said it all depends on the anime with me...like I like the voices of the Japanese Cowboy Bebop over the English ones and I can't stand the Japanese Utena...I have to watch it in English...so like I said with me it varies

Probably I'm an otaku, too. You look at an anime girl and - ok - she IS cute (they are all cute...^^") BUT: If you look at a real girl, in her beautiful eyes, you could drown in, her smooth skin, her lips and a lot more - an anime-gal can't compete with the original!!

Exactly.
And as somebody else before me said, get some professional help.
A real girl's kiss, hug etc feels so amazing you'll forget about anime girls. Good luck 👍

I laugh now. I am supremely otaku, but only from the fact that I don't need help. I ahve a case of scizophrenia, but thats it. To meet fellow fans, anyone hear of webcam (it could get even better ;) ) and last, but not least, when someone insults anime, I beat them to a bloody pulp. actually, I am beyond otaku.

what a flirt lol

i used to have the same problem....with hiei 😌

but then i heard rumors about him and kurama and i bought doujinshi.....i almost died!! I then just got over him after like a few years lmao

Yahho~ ! Newbie here. I'm Taruru~ 👍 You can call me Taru if you want to. Yoroshiku ne

About the topic now... The word "otaku" is not a pleasant one.
Well.. I'm not sure if you're serious, Spike308, you seem to like calling yourself an otaku (テ農o; ), but really, it's a word that describes a state of illness!

"Teenagers have committed suicide because their favorite characters were killed."

code7rei, you said you were almost in this situation. What is it that holds you back ?
You haven't totally lost it. What is important to you, not counting Miyamori Ayano..?
And, btw... what is it about her that makes you prefer her to real women?
Really.. I'm not sure I understand how it's possible...

Listen to Marc. I agree with everything written in his post.. You need to get alittle bit of distance from anime, and talk to a proffessional who knows how these addictions work, and can tell you what to do.
Oh, and drag Spike308 along, too! テ農テ?;

Lastly, I must say that you are very erai for seeking help, and wanting to change. Now, Fighto~~!

You're pretty wise Taruru...hi...nice to meet you. *laughs* Spike just needs help...I'm not sure if he needs help becoming less of an anime fan...but maybe just help *looks at spike ;p* Love ya Spike!

I refuse to drag myself into some sort of treatment program. If a person got to me and made me tell him all, he'd kill himself... I have developed an entity within itself, making my body split. I have Spike (who comes out on the wired) and my true self, the one at school. Spike's words would cause the suicide, and Kevin... Wel, he's just Kevin, just gets me through a day I suppose. But Spike wants to help out a foreign superior nation (hint: board's entire focus) rule th world :devilish: MUWHAHAHA!

Woah! 🙂 Nice to meet you Taruru~! I didn't know that otaku described that *_* good thing I'm not one. I mean I love anime and all, but it's Japanese guys I'm after...ke ke ke...:D
I have too many " I love anime girls" guys at my school, and at our cons. One even told me that he'd like me more if my chest were like the blonde girl in burn up W...>_>;;;;; Extreme otakus scare me...

Ehee, nice to meet y'all. ^__^
Yah! I guess otakus can be quite scary.. >_<;;
Ok, the word Otaku is really a polite way of reffering to somebody as "you".
But this has nothing to do with what anime-otakus are today...so.. you can just ignore that, ahah. テ農テ?;
Today it means someone who has an intense interest in anime, for example, and is so obsessed with it, that he/she does no longer function properly socially..
Well.. the otakus themselves seem to like the title, tho...Spike you suuuuure you're ok? And Neko_minmi too! >__<

Btw, KlahaXGackt, what is Gakkun pointing at his head (in your avatar)?? テ農テ? Is that a gun? Wah, horrible thought.. :eek:

Actually, after looking through some books, I admit I don't function as normal once Anime penetrated my subconcious. Oh well, the fact that before all recent changes to Japanese are put on, Otaku means "your house" テ農テ? Whatever made it evolve to such a word that describes me I dont know.

Humm.. it's probably some "fraternety", otaku-house-thing, eh? ^__^;;
The otakus can be counted into some subculture, don't you think?

Well, the bad image of Otakus is...bad^^ ... Is there a fitting word for kind of anime-fans? (which does not mean that I'll be sent to a mental hospital.... :p )

Yes i'm a fan...but have no intentions of joining a 12 step program and well I can still tell the difference between fiction and reality. I don't know about anime otaku frat houses but there are anime clubs at universities....the one in my town has 2...one is an exclusive one that you have to prove yourself...I did that I was their youngest member, and then there is another one that anyone can join

You can just say you like anime. Or that you are a fan of anime. ^_^
You don't have to have a title, right?

I'm stuck on calling myself a gamer, tho.. I so like that title. *>_<*

I guess that's true...but most people who are fans in the states have a thing with calling all anime fans "otaku" which isn't right...Spike I cried on that too...but then Fushigi Yugi made me cry too....I'm more apt to cry on an anime then an actual live action movie

I probably need to get help :eek: ... really badly... my entire freetime is devoted to watching anime, reading/writing fics, drawing, doing other anim related things, or obsessing over anime with friends. I don't mind it too much actually though (actually i really enjoy being so obsessive ^_^ wheee). i have voices in my head too o_O ... I'm 14 though and don't have to worry to much about my future yet so it doesnt make to much of a problem for me... sooo... i dont really have much advice for other otakus because im pretty hopeless myself *sweatdrop*

🙂

Well, Anime/Manga is also a part of my life. I enjoy reading/watching it and I think every "normal fan" is feeling something while doing this. These emotions may switch between 👏 to :( . But if you reach this 😭 than you've completely lost the sense for reality. My Advise: Don't watch that much Animestuff or in extreme case Professional Help...

*nods in agreement* it's not good to be too emotionally involved with things that aren't real...people who try to escape from reality are the ones that completely lose themselves and if they don't get some help of some sort...they may get lost and never return...reality is hard...but it makes us human

🙂 i went to mental therapy today... i think my therapist needs mental therapy herself... She told me i was remarkably mature for my age :confused: scary ne? if i am mature then... 😲 ... and she didnt say anything about it being strange that i had voices living in my head... *is confused*

i'm 19/m. i have this little problem about anime : i like it too much! i feel very sad and pain in my heart after watching tragedy anime such as evangelion or saikano. i don't smile or laugh for several days without any reason whatsoever. very often i act like characters i've seen without realize it. i often use japanese words even my friends don't understand me. and maybe the worst part, i'm in love (deeply in love) with an anime girl, and lose interest in real girls. i can't go on like this forever.. someone pls tell me what to do?

I think you'll soon get over the anime girl. Eventually that will happen. So you can continue loving her (it's kinda weird loving an anime character) but you'll soon get over her. And please, don't commit suicide. And try to stay in reality (no offense).
