Does anyone know more about vernal and autumnal equinox memorial visits (ohaka mairi) and why they originated around those days?

People cleans up the grave finely & set the food in front of a grave because ancestor has returned to this world during this Bon Festival & in order for them to be glad by done these hospitalities. They pray to be protected from any evil things & pray to be brought good fortune.
