Hi,

1. 「ああ、そりゃいいや」とうとう癇癪を抑えきれなくなって、ハリーが大声で言った。

Sorry, I know I have asked this (or similar) question before but I cannot find the thread.

a) Is きれなく =切れなく (neg. potential of 切る)?

b) What does this ~きる suffix mean exactly?

c) Is this ~きる a general-purpose combining form, or is it only used in certain set combinations?

2. ここ何日振りかで、ロンはたしかにハリーの目を見た。

Is 何日振りかで = 何日...か (several days) + 振り ("first time in ...") + で (indicating time when something happened)?

3. 「うん、これからは僕が呪文をうまく使えなかったときに、どうすればいいのかわかったよ」

I am puzzled by the combination of これから, which seems to be talking about the future, and the past-tense verbs 使えなかった and わかった.

1) a) b)
That's the same as #2 in the following thread.

これ以上 / しきって / 新し / ば / ん | Japan Forum

c)
The former.

2)
Yes.

3)
使えなかったとき(に) is conditional. 使えない時に is also correct, but the past form more emphasizes "after (realizing) I can't use spells well", i.e., when he really tries and then realizes it.
わかった is the perfect tense there; "I got it. / I understand it now." (これからは doesn't cover わかった. 「僕が呪文をうまく使えなかった/ないときに、これからはどうすればいいのか」(が)わかった makes more sense?)
