カメラ目線: Learning Japanese via old Puppy Videos

Here's a phrase that I ran into 20 years ago and I don't think I've used or heard it since.
カメラ目線 (kamera mesen) or line of sight to the camera (or looking into the camera).
Here Yuko says kamera mesen, kamera mesen to indicate the puppy was looking at the camera (although from the video you could tell that he really wasn't). How about you? Do you know or use this phrase?

Another interesting learning takeaway is that they are using otoko no ko and onna to refer to the gender and not the proper words for animals which are mesu and osu.

Probably カメラ目線 was originalｌy from TV industry. It's widely used nowadays.

Indeed pet, especially dogs/cats owners tend not to use "osu/mesu". Furthermore, they often call each other by the name of the pet ちゃんのお父さん/お母さん.:dead:
