Hi Everybody!

I am confused as to the difference between より and から when they are used as particles. On Facebook when one shares another's post Facebook credits the original poster with より, like if somebody shared one of my posts on it would say チャルスさんより, would チャルスさんから be equivalent here?

Could somebody please compare and contrast these two words when they are used as particles? (as opposed to より being used in the comparative sense or から being used as a conjunction)

Thanks a lot!

:)

In the sense of 'from ~', から is commonly used.
東京から名古屋まで (distance)
お昼から (time)
先生から生徒に贈る言葉 (person)
etc.
より is an archaic word for から and is still in use with particular expressions.
It's often used at the end of a letter, with a message for a gift, etc.
e.g.
チャールズさんへ、太郎より

By the way, you should not take the Japanese words/phrases generated by Facebook very seriously, I often find them unnatural/strange.
