This is a pretty good example, I think. If you want to be even more grammatically picky, maybe changing the "tsuita toki" to "tsuitara" might be even more accurate. Although I think both are interchangeable in Japanese, but I think the toki has the meaning of "at the time you arrive" and the tara has the meaning of "when you you arrive" when translating into english. Please correct me if I am wrong

(Are there/will there be any events near Tokyo?)

This sentence is good, but I think 「こんにちわ」 or 「はじめまして」 is better than 「すみません」. If you want to use 「すみません」, you should use this word in front of a question. An instance, 「すみません、質問があります」 or 「すみません、教えてください」.

アメリカの人です。

「アメリカ人です」 is good.

私の日本語を話す事が下手のでごめんなさい。

「わたしの日本語は下手です。ごめんなさい」 or 「わたしは日本語を話すのが上手ではありません。すみません」 is good.

えっと、二週間に日本へ行きます。

「えっと、二週間後には日本に行きます」 is good, I think.

三月十八日から二十八日まで東京でいます。

「三月十八日から二十八日まで東京にいます」 is good.

イベントは東京のちかくにありますか。

「イベントは東京のちかくでありますか」 is good.

本当にありがとうございます

「よろしくお願いします」is good but not 「ありがとう」. In Japan, Japanese don't use "Thanks" at the end of asking sentence. 「よろしくお願いします」is normal.
