これまも・否応にも認めざるを得ない

Two small questions. The first comes from an 朝日新聞 article:

シリア北部で勢力拡大を狙うＩＳは、これまも繰り返し同地を攻撃してきた。

What does this mean? Is it possibly a typo of これまでも?

The second is from a longer article by someone who set up a device for continuously playing his favourite anime series until the end of time. He describes the intro sequence:

...やがて空間いっぱいに光が満ちて、あのスモールレターのラブソングとともに、ヒロインたちが一人一人眼前へ飛び込んでくれば、人々は自分が今ほど見てしまったものが、あの贈り物にも似たアニメーションシリーズの（まさしく）決定的な幕開けである事を、否応にも認めざるを得ないだろう。

I guess this means: "when seeing the song lyrics, the heroines etc. appearing on screen, people surely have to acknowledge that this is the definitive opening of the anime, whether they want it or not". Is this correct? It's easy to find an explanation for 否応なく, but not so much for this pattern.

Yes, and it might be needless to say, but 否応にも modifies 認めざるを得ない. There also are other expressions such like 否が応でも or 否でも応でも.
(By the way, まさしく modifies 決定的な幕開け; this is surely the definitive opening.)

Thank you! "Surely" was my translation for だろう: not as in "I'm certain of it" but as in "come on, you can't possibly disagree".

否応 is usually used in the phrase 否応なく or 否応無しに.
否 means "(saying) no", and 応 means "(saying) yes".
否応なく or 否応無しに is literally "without saying yes or no", meaning, no matter what you say, or "inevitably".
Example: 否応なく認めざるをえない。(cannot help but agree/admit.)

否応にも sounds very strange, and I have to say it is a wrong form.
I suspect this is confused with a different phrase いやがうえにも(弥が上にも), which means "even more." There is no phrase like 否応にも in correct Japanese.

The cited paragraph strongly suggests that it is not written by a professional or highly- educated writer.
