Hi,

My translation: "I neither like nor dislike him."

I'm thinking here that 彼のこと is used in the "target of emotion" sense, and has nothing to do with "his things" (i.e. things that he has or owns). Is that right?

Could this mean "Living entails taking the life of other things"? Is it talking about the need to kill other things in order to eat, for example? I am not sure if I am barking up completely the wrong tree with this...

My translation: "Hirosaki Park in Aomori Prefecture is famous for its cherry trees, and each year the blossom is most beautiful during 'Golden Week' when over 2,000,000 tourists visit from all over the country. However, even here the cherry blossom season is getting earlier (in the year)."

Is 毎年ゴールデンウィークが桜が最も美しい時期で to be parsed like:

Translation given: "The man did not so much as apologize for stepping on my foot."

Is さえしなかった = さえ + しなかった, with さえ giving the sense of "even" or "so much as"?
