1. 太陽が西に傾いてきました。

Translation given: "The sun is [was] low in the west."

What sense does きました provide here? I translated the sentence as "The sun started (きました) to sink in the west".

2. アメリカ人は、全部食べられないと、残りを袋に入れて もらって家へ持って帰るんだから、私たちもそうしよう よ。

My translation: "When Americans can't eat everything, they put the leftovers in a bag and take them home, so let's do the same."

Am I right that 食べられない is the potential form ("can't eat everything"), not the passive form ("everything isn't eaten")?

3. みさ子の母は、みさ子がやめるより早く、食べるのをや めた。

My translation: "Misako's mother stopped eating before Misako did."

Is this correct?

4. 長い間努力した結果、ついに実験に成功しました。

Translation given: "Long-term efforts at last resulted in the success of the experiment."

For the first half (before the comma), I got "The results of making a long-term effort". Then for the second half, I got "at last the experiment was successful". Is this correct, and we can just splice these two halves together with no linking words to make a grammatical sentence?

5. A man is talking about some speakers that he has made from a kit.

自分で作る方が買うよりずっと安いし、いいものができ ますよ。

My translation: "Making (the speakers) onself is much cheaper than buying them, and ..."

Then, how would you translate いいものができますよ? Also, does もの refer to the speakers themselves or to the act of making them?

6. Two people are arranging a place to meet.

はい、じゃ、一時に中央改札口を出たところにいるよう にします。

My translation: "Yes, right, I'll make sure I'm at the main ticket barrier exit at one o'clock."

I don't understand 中央改札口を出たところ too well. Does this mean the place (ところ) where one exits (出た) though/by/near (を) the main ticket barrier?

Literally, it's from "coming to me". "The sun is coming to the ground where I am at."
We can also say 西に傾いていきました with connoting "going away from me", but rarely use 沈んできました when the sun is going down(away from me) to the horizon. (沈んでいきました is common.)

The fist half connotes 長い間努力した結果として or "as the results of making a long-term effort".

買うよりいいもの(= the speakers)ができますよ

Does this make sense?;-)

#2, #3, #6 are all correct.👍

Thanks Toritoribe. Does the original version without として feel at all abbreviated, or is it regular, standard Japanese?

買うよりいいもの(= the speakers)ができますよ

"... you can make better speakers than the ones you buy"?

Adding some small notes to Toritoribe san's great answers...

~てくる/~ていく is often used to describe gradual changes or something which are going on.
So 太陽が西に傾いてきました means The sun is getting lower in the west. (The sun is setting.)

4. 長い間努力した結果、ついに実験に成功しました。
Translation given: "Long-term efforts at last resulted in the success of the experiment."

Omitting として from 結果として (as a result) is quite common.

5. A man is talking about some speakers that he has made from a kit.

自分で作る方が買うよりずっと安いし、いいものができ ますよ。

My translation: "Making (the speakers) onself is much cheaper than buying them, and ..."

"... you can make better speakers than the ones you buy"?

If you make it yourself instead of buying (the completed product), you can make it better and cheaper.
For example, if you make a dress yourself, the dress will be better and cheaper than the dress you buy at a shop.

6. Two people are arranging a place to meet.

はい、じゃ、一時に中央改札口を出たところにいるよう にします。

ところ literally means "place" "position".
I'll be waiting for you at 1 o'clock at the place where one just comes out of the central ticket barrier.

As undrentide-san wrote, 結果 is a noun but can be used adverbially as "as the result", often when modified by an adjectival phrase/clause.
