Can someone please teach me which of the follwoing is more polite?
Also, please teach me why?

1. お持ちいたします
2. 待たせていただきます

Isn't that a typo of たせていただきます?;-)

That's not the difference between the level of politness, but more likely the difference between the meaning or the usage. お持ちいたします indeed can be used as a humble expression of 持つ (e.g. to carry your baggage), but is mostly used as a humble expression of 持ってくる (e.g. to bring coffee to you). Whereas 持たせていただきます is used only for 持つ.

Thank you for your help AGAIN tori:)

Yes, I meant 持たせていただきます, sorry for my typo

How about when I want to report something to my Japanese boss.

According to the explanation above, would it be more appropriate to use 報告させていただきます rather than ご報告致します

ご報告致します should suffice.
Even though there's a trend that many Japanese use ~させていただく believing it is more politer, the fact is using ~させていただく too often creates over-the-top impression. ;-)

The difference in meaning between お持ちいたします and 持たせていただきます is specific to the verb 持つ. 報告する doesn't have this difference.
