Hello, friends:

Of the three basic sentence types, (動詞文, 名詞文, and 形容詞文), which type are あります/います sentences?

In my beginner-level understanding of what the copula です and あります/います signify, I believe English lacks this semantic distinction, (i.e. reserving one word to state a description or quality of something, and reserving two other words for asserting the existence of animate and inanimate things/thoughts/concepts). Furthermore, if です is considered the copula, do あります/います have their own name/classification?

My question is pretty simple-minded but I don't think my textbook has stated this explicitly...

Thank you!
