Red is the color indicating sacred place, it is the color of celebration. Paints which colors Buddhist temples are from red hydrogen silver which supposed to have power to anti-insect, anti-corrosion, anti-devil. Asian tend to prefer red color. But, mysteriously, there is few legend about the sekiryu. That is probably because 五行思想(old Chinese philosophia physice) tells that red belongs to fire, then sekiryu wont get used to dragon which have sense of water god. However our old ancestors had loved this non-legendary sekiryu. There are many ceramic dishes with sekiryu paint, and we can easily find vivid sekiryu figure in snake-dance played during former new year celebration. Cant you feel super-natural beauty with that red and which produce energy from deep bottom of our soul.
