My car has decided to retaliate for weeks of neglect.
I have been quite diligent in adhering to a "drive the car no more than once a week" policy, and apparently my car didn't like that idea. In other words, my car now stalls at the drop of a dime.
I found this out today after having driven to the next city over for a bimonthly class that I do. When the class was over and I was ready to go home, I put the key in the ignition and turned it. The car started up fine, but it stalled immediately.
OK......let's try again!
(Start up----->stall)
Hmmmm....one more time!
(Start up----->stall)
Ok, this is bad, I thought to myself, and tried one last time, but this time, I lightly kept my foot on the gas.
AHA! The car doesn't stall!
Then I took my foot off the gas.
(Stall.)
Well, with this bit of information, I was able to drive home, hoping--no, PRAYING--for every light to be green when I got to it. Starting up the car again after everytime I had to stop until I got the hang of keeping one foot on the gas and the other foot on the brake at the same time.
The car runs fine except when you stop, so I'm at a conundrum here.
Do I just get rid of the car like I was hoping to do next year (only do it now), or do I see if I can get it fixed cheaply and wait out the winter with the car as I had originally planned?
There are a couple mitigating factors.
1) My car insurance runs out in October, so if I get the car fixed, I will have to renew my car insurance for another year. That alone will set me back about 44,000 yen.
2) The car is not new, and this is not the first time something bad has happened to it. It's a Heisei 7 model (which is 13 years ago), so the car is probably going to have another problem within the next year. I say this because the car completely died on me last year, and I had to call JAF in order to get the car towed. The car repair that time cost somewhere around 30~50 thousand yen.
This has come rather unexpectedly, and it'S making me think about this a lot faster than I had intended to. What should I do?:?
