Happy Thanksgiving 2013!

Whether I like to admit it or not, every year I have a lot to be thankful for, and this year is certainly no exception. I have a place to sleep, I have food to eat, and somehow I always find a way to pay the bills...eventually.

However, this year I can be especially thankful, because I have only one more calendar year left of school. Then I'll be working full-time again and hopefully be able to try again at starting a family.

This past year, things looked especially bleak. I couldn't find work, and I had run out of money. I was reminded of the days when I had first moved to Aichi and couldn't even afford curtains to block out the lights at nighttime. I couldn't even afford a light for the ceiling! I look back at those days and smile, but I didn't smile then. Lonely and hungry and poor, laughter and cheer was far from my mind. But, I made it through then, and I made it through this last year.

What made it possible this year was a generous scholarship I received this year. Without that scholarship, I simply would not have been able to continue going to school. I was about a month from dropping out entirely to find a job and start climbing out of my financial hole, but I got help.

For this help I am entirely grateful. Thank you, though you will never read this, dear donor. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at Jref! If you can read this, you have much to be thankful for. Remember that many people do not have the leisure or wherewithal to visit a site like this. Never forget your fortunes, even in the darkest of times. Thanksgiving is a good reminder to be thankful for all you have, modest though it may be.
