Hi everyone.
I am going to buy flowers for my wife tomorrow. I just passed JLPT N3 but my Japanese is still terrible. I want to basically go into the flower shop and say I don't know whats best so can you pick something out that's nice? Please correct/add to the following;

すみません。妻のために花を買いたいんですけど。。。
どうすればいいかわかりませんので (or should I say わかりませんが。。。)
お勧めはもらえませんか? (is it better to use できますか?) I want to say can you do it for me or recommend for me.

Thank you!

Both ので or が work here. I am not sure about the お勧めをもらう part though. I've never heard that phrase.

How about something with お任せ(おまかせ)? Like お任せで、花束(はなたば)を作ってもらいたい。

I would say すみません、妻に花を贈りたいんですが、お勧めはありますか?.
お任せ works well when you totally rely on the clerk and leave the choice to them.

Ask for chrysanthemums, they are usually the cheapest and last a long time.

Ooh, you great romantic!
I've alsways use 任せます (まかせます)and tell the florist how much money I want to spend, and never had bad results. Tell them why you are buying the flowers, you may get a chat and the person doing the flowers my impulsively put a bit extra in the bouquet.

Notice that chrysanthemums(菊) are most commonly used in funeral ceremonies, and therefore represent a symbol of those kinds of things, so it's avoided depending on the situation, for instance お見舞い.
