Just received an email from Todai reconfirming my address so they may send smoothly the documents to me once theyget the official result from mext. I think, they haven't had yet the results

Although they told me that it'll be by the end of the month. so next week it is.

It is possible that they have received the result but cannot inform the candidates before some internal procedures.

Hi, I received an email yesterday from my University to confirm the address so that they can send the certificate of MEXT and also the intended airport to board. They sent me MEXT instructions booklet and also told that my dates of arrival would be either 29th September or 2nd October. And I can apply for Visa after 1st August

II've received an email from the office of school of engineering at nagoya uni telling me what are the things that I should do once I arrive at Japan : like the registration procedure to enroll as a research student

It depends on: (I assume that your fields of study for phd and MS are the same)
1. What you want do to after that
2. Your finance status
If I were you and had enough money to support my time in US, I'd go to US.

Since nominated, Tokyo Tech already told the PGP nominee that the official MEXT result will be announced in August. Though from previous year it was always around mid to end July.

Same here. I already filed my resignation last week. At least, feel a bit warm when knowing there is someone with me

Is it really true that it is uncommon for PGP nominees not to be accepted by Mext?
Because of the delayed announcement, I am quite nervous now on what will happen if I file my resignation.
I really hope it will be released tomorrow.

As far as I know, the result is delayed until the end of this month. We are on the same boat, wondering what will be if the result is not as positive as I hope
