Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Undergraduate Scholarship 2017

Would you have any idea how many applicants qualified for the interview? Last year no one qualified for the undergrad scholarship. Seems like this year there are a number of bright and promising applicants. :)
When I got to the embassy I was immediately called so I didn't have the chance to check. Oh that's not true, last year at lot of us qualified for the interview maybe about 15-20. I was one of the passers but failed at the final selection.

Hi there! It's ok to post over here even if I'm applying for the Specialized Training scholarship? :D

hello! i took the Examinations etc before two years but i failed ;v;
However this is my last chance ..
i wish the best for everyone! and i'm happy to find this website.
so I invited to the exams and interview in 28th july and i'm soo afraid ;,(
do you guys know anyone from here who got it? past year or this year

i have some questions!
if we passed the exams and interview, is there another fear about reject in the final result? if yes, why? and How can we avoid it ;;;;-;;;;;

also is it okay to talk with two Languages in the interview? like eng and Jap? cuz my english is a little bad. or is it bad thing to do?

hope we can help each other. and good luck for you all!

Even if you pass the exams an interview and get recommended to MEXT, the chances of you passing are still 50% really. I have no idea what MEXT wants so I can't tell you how to prevent it, other than just be absolutely perfect..

It's not bad and if anything, I believe showing you know Japanese is a plus.

Hello, how have you been? I am a new member of the forum. I have found the forum really helpful in many ways. The other day I posted a thread as to how I can get started learning Japanese for MEXT scholarship and I was provided with really helpful answers. But I still have a vague picture of what really MEXT is. From what I can gather, it is a scholarship catered for international students from all over the world who would like to study in Japan provided by the Japanese government. I am 18 years old and I have already completed a 12 year compulsory education in Uzbekistan. According to the website, those who are at the age of 17-22 can apply for MEXT which means I am eligible for it. After finding about MEXT, I decided to take a gap year which is not so commonplace in my country. But I would like to devote my one year to studying Japanese in order to win this scholarship. The thing is that I still have some questions regarding it. I would highly appreciate if you guys could answer them if possible.
1. I am not sure what fields "Technology student" scholarship incorporates. I am absolutely interested in Computer Engineering. Does it pertain to fields related to only Technology?
2. If I were to choose Technology student scholarship assuming it includes Computer Engineering, do I have to sit an exam from CHEMISTRY as well? What subjects are an obligatory part of this?
Overall, I would be more than happy if you could elucidate in detail what the benefits of applying for MEXT as an undergraduate student are.

Hey there! Take a look at this :) It's general information:
http://www.py.emb-japan.go.jp/becas/2017 - U - 3 - INFORMACIONES EN INGLES.pdf
You would be in Natural Sciences A. You have to take the Math, Chemistry, Physics and Language exams :D
I'm assuming that you'd like to apply for a undergraduate scholarship, and not a specialized training one.
You can find the benefits in that document :)
Hope it helps!

Hi everyone! I'm so happy I stumbled upon this forum. I've been waiting in agony for the results of my scholarship application. I applied for the research category. You see, I've made it past the screenings last May and June. Thank heavens! I've already been interviewed and awaiting the results since they said notification will be sent around this time (August). I want to know if the scholarship committee of the Japan Embassy in my country (PHILIPPINES) will inform the applicant whether or not they passed the interview? If I'm not mistaken, this is the second to the last stage of the screening is that correct? Then once the embassy has recommended you, you will start to contact potential advisers (professors) who will aid you in your research and in the process you need to receive/secure a letter of acceptance from the university by December or January 2017 (is this the final stage?) before you finally depart for Japan. Then the pre-departure orientation is sometime in February or March..

Hi Fellow Filipino Applicants! Any news about the results of the Interview for Undergraduate?
Hi! I'm also a fellow Filipino applicant under the research category. I'm still waiting for the results. The departure schedule that I ticked in the application form was for April 2017. In the brochure that they gave to us, it stated that it's going to be sometime in August right? I'm a little worried and nervous actually, since August is about to end. :( I actually called up the embassy last week and wanted to confirm if those who were interviewed (myself included) will still be notified whether or not they passed the interview and will be recommended. The receptionist said yes though.. But I don't really know. She just said to wait for the email notification.

Hiya! Just wanna say this is a thread for undergraduate and so the process differs between undergrad and research.. You may wanna try a research thread or calling your embassy and hope they give you a bit more info~

I do not think that is exactly correct. You for research students the last day you are allowed to make first contanct with prospective universities is 31 August. After this date u will nolonger be allowed to contanct any professor or prospective uni for the first time. However if u had conctan ted the uni befr 31 August then u arre allowed to continue the process. The dead line for receiving letters of acceptance from japanese unis is end of September howevet depending on yr country's embassy the date may be earlier than 30 September. In my country they actually want it end of August.

Hope this helps

Hello Distribu. Don't be disheartened. Everything happens for a reason. Also, IMO it would be much easier if you apply thru University Recommendation. Especially if you apply under Priority Programs. Kindly check my blog for further information re U.R.
It's a step by step process for Osaka U and MEXT Application. So just to give you an idea.

Dhezcycoolet Angel's World: Study abroad (JAPAN) via University Recommendation with MEXT Scholarship

Hello Deziree, I'm back. Thank you for encouraging me to move forward. I recently contacted the university of my interest, and they told me that I have to wait for next month and continuously review their site's updates with regards to forms because their forms basically updates annually.

Moreover, I just find it hard now to fill out the form I found from their site, though it was the form they have from 2016, I'm having a hard time to fill it out, just to prep myself up for their new forms. :S

Can you help me?

In case anyone hasn't seen it and wants to join :

We have an undergrad LINE group.
If you wish to join add me and send me a message so I know you're a fellow MEXTian ~
My ID is cynder757

People from the other scholarships are also welcome but the group is primarily for undergrads~

Hi guys.. just wanted to asked if this scholarship program is still in process because I applied somewhere in July,2016 but until now, I haven't received any sort of email from the embassy stating whether or not I have qualified. Can somebody please share some information about it with me??

To be honest, if your embassy hasn't contacted you since you applied, it's probably bad news..we are currently one month away from the time the final results start coming out..As far as I know all countries are done with exams and interviews by late August.

Hi guys! I graduated this year and applied for MEXT, however, i completely failed the math exam. I want to apply next year, the ones that got a good score on the exam have any advice?

I got my acceptance email two days ago. Is there anyone else? Do drop me a PM if you did as well.

I was hoping I could form a network of sorts for the 2017 batch of MEXT undergrad students, this is probably going to be done through facebook but do comment if you feel you are uncomfortable with sharing your personal profile.

Hi could you please provide some tips for passing the Documents screening part. I will be applying for the 2018 undergraduate scholarship here in the Phils. Unfortunately I will be a grade 12 student by June 2017. I am expected to graduate at March 2018. Will it be okay if I could not submit the direct placement, certificate of university enrollment, and the certificate of qualification of entrance examination passage?? It says in the official package that all documents must be submitted. I hope someone can help me in preparation this summer.

Guys can somebody please provide help on how to pass the documents screening part? I am really scared cause the applications will start this summer. I am expected to graduate at March 2018, and I will not possess a certificate of enrollment of a university and the certificate of university entrance examination passage. In your case what did you do? How did you pass your documents?? Please help
