I am searching for a family member, Emmanuel "Manny" *****, from the Dominican Republic. I believe he might be living with (married to?) Hisako ***** in *****, ***** City, *****. The picture of them together was taken in June 2015. I will very gladly pay the first person who can provide me a verifiable address for them and information about the child in the picture. (Is he Emmanuel's or is that just a baby picture of another older child of hers?

Emmanuel probably works from home as a Spanish/English translator. He loves working out at the gym. or perhaps could be found at an Hispanic restaurant. He likes video games, cars, and electronic gadgets. He has written his name in Japanese as ****マニー.

Thank you!

Beth,

There have been other such "find this person for me" requests here (but few with $500 attached!). The dilemma is--how would someone like me know if you are legit, or if you are a disgruntled "family member" who has an axe to grind with Manny? You could be innocuous, or you could be an ex-wife looking for money or revenge. You could be legit person/profile, but you might also be a figment, an invention of some collections agency slyly looking for some innocent, good-natured help in finding Manny.

How could I tell the difference?

Sorry,

Less than two months since you got a picture from them makes it very hard to believe you have lost contact with him. Something smells very suspicious about this request. Did you just snag those photos and the woman's name off of his facebook page or something? It looks like you got her city and the kid's photo from her Google Plus page, so you certainly know how to get in contact with then if you want to.

To Johnny and Mike,

Thank you for responding. Those are all fair questions.
I did contact the Dominican Embassy in Japan as well as the Japanese Embassy in the Dominican Republic, but they said they have no way to locate him. (I think the Japanese Embassy does have a way to know where he is, but they won't tell anyone.) I have also contacted private investigators, but the only one who responded charges $700 per day with no guarantee of anything, and I cannot afford that.

Here are more details: Emmanuel is my son-in-law. He is a handsome, charming sociopath who talked my daughter into marrying him in the Dominican Republic, then used and dumped her four years ago when she could not get him a visa to Japan. (He is not allowed into the United States, so he was obsessed with Japan and getting Japanese citizenship.) For religious reasons, my daughter cannot remarry until she knows he has committed adultery. Emmanuel will never confess, though, so my daughter is stuck until we have proof he has been with someone else.

I found the pictures of Emmanuel with Hisako and the baby through Emmanuel's google account earlier this month. I immediately sent a message to Hisako to ask about the pictures, but she would not respond. Immediately, though, Emmanuel closed his account and everything he had ever had open on the Internet, and Hisako shut off access to her pictures.

If I wanted to harm Emmanuel, I could have reported him to Japanese Immigration long ago. I have no desire to hurt him, though; I just want him out of our lives forever. If I could find out if he is living with or married to Hisako, or if the baby is Emmanuel's, then my daughter is free. That is all I want.

Here is a picture of Emmanuel and my daughter on their wedding day.

If anyone does decide to try to find them, PLEASE be discreet. If Emmanuel knows he is being looked for, he will disappear to who-knows-where and we will never find him again.

Also, if any decides to look for Emmanuel and Hisako, PLEASE do not contact Hisako through her google account!!!! When I made the mistake of asking her a question about Emmanuel and the baby, she turned off the tab for anyone to see any future pictures she posted (and now I think she has done something so her name doesn't show up in a google search?) If anyone contacts her again asking about Emmanuel, she will probably completely shut off the account. Then I would have no hope of ever seeing if she posted something that proved that she and Emmanuel were a couple. So, as a clause to my reward for finding them, if Hisako shuts off her Google account (meaning someone contacted her through it,) then the offer is off. Please understand why I have to add that condition. Thank you.

Why would he think your daughter could get him a visa to live in Japan?

Why is he not allowed into the United States? Has he been convicted of a felony anywhere before?

He researched the different types of visas to Japan and found that my daughter would be eligible to get the Specialist in Humanities visa. He figured that once she was in Japan, then she could get a spousal visa for him. (That plan fell through when I discovered that he was not legally allowed in Japan because of his background.)

Yes, he is guilty of a felony, and that is why he is not allowed back into the United States. He is not a danger to anyone, though (except emotionally to whoever his prey is at the time. Poor Hisako doesn't know yet that she is just being used.)

If no one there is interested in getting involved in this (and I don't blame you,) any suggestions you might have on how I could conduct a search in Ojana if I went there myself would be appreciated. I have started studying Japanese, but the best I would be able to do is just the basics. Ojana is not a large area, but it is still a needle in a haystack to just show up and hope I could miraculously run into the person I am looking for, especially when I don't speak the language.

The solution is easy, if you have any means of contacting him at all (perhaps through his relatives).

Tell him he has a choice to contact you and resolve the situation or you are going to provide the Japanese Embassy with proof that he is a convicted felon and in Japan illegally. He can contact you, or get deported back to the Dominican Republic. His choice.

That sounds pretty much like what I had figured to do also. I would never actually purposely get him deported (even though he certainly deserves it!) but I hope the threat would at least move him to action.

I do not feel comfortable having all of this information about him out here. (I did not intend to put Emmanuel's business on the web; without it, though, I look like the suspicious one.) If anyone is interested in searching for him, please copy the info. I will be asking the moderator to remove this thread. Thank you for your responses.

I got the information I needed, so the $500 offer is closed (and my daughter is free!) Thanks to everyone who looked.

Congratulations. Since it may benefit others, could you tell us what source or method you used to successfully complete the search?

I followed all of the advice I found about searching for someone in Japan and contacted everyone on the Internet who knew him or Hisako. (No one responded, but they did report to him that I was looking for him and wanted him to get in touch with me.) Shockingly, his twin brother in the U.S. contacted me to see why I was looking for Emmanuel and what I wanted. I told him exactly what I needed and explained that I did not want to cause trouble for his brother, but if I had to continue searching for him to get the information my daughter needed, his business would become known to others and that could lead to trouble for him. Two days later, Emmanuel sent an email to both me and my daughter confessing to adultery and setting her free. We made peace with each other, wished each other well, and are all now able to move on. It all came to a very happy ending!!
