How to tell my boss I'm sick?

So I work at a sushi restaurant and can speak a fair amount of Japanese when I need to, but today I've been throwing up today and I'm not confident in my ability to keep it together at work today. But my boss can hardly speak two sentences of English without having to revert back to Japanese, much less understand more complex sentences. Also I don't know what would be the most respectful way to say that I can't work today. I have to call in in 15 minutes or so, so answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is how I would normally say it but I feel like my boss wouldn't accept it as an adequate excuse.
私はびょうきがありますから、今日おしごとに行けません。

...<verb in た-form>り した indicates that you also did other things than <verb>, which you're not going to mention however (because there are too many, or they're not important). You can list multiple -たり clauses before the した.

休ませる (やすませる) is the causative form of 休む (やすむ): it means "make someone rest" or (in this case, since it's a request) "let someone rest". Note that the polite form of this is 休ませます.

Note that Mike-san jokingly used ゲロを吐く. Your boss might laugh it away, but using just 体調が悪くて is the best choice.

That's probably because of the nature of my work, where just saying you're sick isn't enough; it has to be pretty graphic to get the day off. Anything short of a broken leg, we're pretty much expected to show up for work.
