I did well on English,completely failed the math and I guess did ok on the Japanese cause they called me for the interview..
So I suggest that if you can have a go at Japanese,do it..
Mikyo,don't worry about the kanji,focus more on vocabulary ^^
The math,I believe would've been ok if I wasn't so behind on math..at least it looked that way to me..like I think that if you guys are covered as far as basic high school math goes and don't really have a problem solving a bit of everything,you should be ok..Japanese was a bit more difficult than some previous year but not too bad..

I'm really worried about the maths as I'm barely passing my grade and I don't think that we even cover majority (on the prac papers) of this next year. (Next year is my last year and when I'm applying for MEXT~)
How should I start preparing, do you think? Japanese or math focused?
So far I know hiragana, katakana, 50 kanji and few simple sentences.

Ah,if this makes you feel better,I could even do equations 'til last month xD
I think there are different standards for each country but we may have the same..
I'd say whichever one you have more strength in..but try to not let go of one completely..

Hi everyone. I'm new here, my English isn't very good so forgive my mistake.(´･_･`)
I was applied the scholarship already and now just waiting the email info about the exam.
I was applied for the Social Science as the field. My knowledge of Japanese is very poor but my fist choice of the field is Japanese language(･_･;
Btw I done all the math past paper and paid a lots of effort at this subject. Because the people in my city(? embassy told me that applicants in previous years done very bad in the math exam which the highest marks was about 40%.
Also my English is very poor as you can see I made lots of mistake above. (;´༎ຶω༎ຶ`)
So just pray I can pass the exam to the interview.
P.s: congrats(am I right?) who success to got the chance to interview! And hope you gays do the best on the exam and interview. (・ω・)ノ

The exam should be at 4,5 July.
I read that you just finished the exams and interview, may I ask you what marks you got on the exams? Just wonder how well enough to pass the exams.

I did those tests cause my first choice is Medicine in Natural Science C. Math was really difficult to me because the exam is only for one hour and I'm not really fast when it comes to solving Math problems. As for Chemistry, I think I got about half probably haha I guess that's because I focused too much on Math when I studied. Biology was easier compared to Math and Chemistry but maybe that's because I'm majoring in Biology in my university haha

I'm still very worried about Japanese. Although in my country they will take the higher score between English and Japanese, I still think I should try my best in both English and Japanese, because this exam is so compatitive, maybe many people who apply for social science are good at Japanese, they may be more advantageous than me. Oh I was wrong. I just did the 2010 Japanese test, so I thought all the Japanese tests are dokkai like 2010 )
I read other years' examination questions and have just realised that the test are divided into 3 parts with 3 levels, so that's great) At least I can finish the first part and some questions of the second part

Or seven actually,since three didn't show up for the exam..
Mikyo,you should only really worry about kanji if you wanna do well in C
