If I'm waiting for my mom to pay for it I'm not even leaving Georgia. I'm getting a job and saving every penny, getting scholarships, odd jobs...all that hoopblah. Plus I'm going my Sophmore year of college so the first year, at least, isn't something I have to worry about.

If you're getting ready to go to college soon in America without your parent's help, won't you want to be focusing on that for the time being? As a student, the jobs you will be offered will probably mostly be part-time minimum wage jobs, so a good scholarship will be very important. Out of curiosity, why your sophomore year?
