I've asked some of my American friends their opinion on this, but I was wondering, do Japanese people think this kid is funny? 窶敕樞?堙債深ツ債鞘?堋セツ?

Sorry to be blunt, but you wouldn't happen to just be plugging your own youtube channel, would you? I don't see what any of those videos have to do with Japan.

At the very least it belongs in Chit-Chat, then. Not "All Things Japanese".

What part of that strikes you as "autistic"?

Nope. Those are not my videos and I am in no way concerned about gaining views for that YouTube channel. I just happened across one of this kid's videos and found it to be really intriguing. Why do you have to assume I am just trying to troll or something? To be honest I get frustrated when people are so unwilling to answer a simple question, but rather just assume the worst intentions.

The reason I would post this in a forum regarding Japan is just like I wrote in my first post (do you not understand english?). Sorry to be "blunt" but I find your response to be close-minded and unaccommodating. At least the person who posted after you was willing to participate in conversation rather than throw accusations.

Maybe you are right about that. I guess what strikes me as a little odd is the things this kid reviews. I mean, in a sense, I can see him trying to be funny, but then again he seems serious by the fact that he has posted around 20 videos on youtube. Some of my friends here in the states think this kid is hilarious.

We get a LOT of trolls, spammers, etc here. Everybody new who posts links to practically anything comes under some sort of suspicion. Plus it seems a little far-fetched that anybody would post it wanting to know what Japanese people think about it. If you think he's blunt, then just wait until you know me a little better.

You do realize that autism is not a generic catch-all term for people with developmental problems, don't you?

I do, yes. I actually have a bachelors degree in behavioral science. But you do realize that many many many behavioral issues (i.e. Asperger Syndrome, PDD-NOS (pervasive developmental disorder, not otherwise specified), etc.) all fall under the category of autism, right? Trust me, I am not just trying to be a total punk. I just want to know what the general public thinks about situations like this. Call it a social experiment of sorts.

Asperger syndrome or Asperger's syndrome or Asperger disorder (play /ˈɑspərɡərz/[1] or /ˈæspərɡərz/[2]) is an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development.

I am not saying this kid has this or any other problem, but what do you think? Do you see any of these signs?

I really couldn't say. I found the whole premise so stupid and the video so poorly done that I don't think I got more than about ten or fifteen seconds into it before I clicked out.

As Mike said, we get a lot of trolls and spammers who just plug random links to generate views or to solicit something and the premise of the post, for the reasons Mike pointed out, made it seem suspicious to me. And I never accused you of trolling, I asked you if you were plugging your own youtube channel. Perhaps I might have assumed the worst intentions, but if you stick around the forum for awhile you might understand why. And yes, I understand English perfectly well, whether that was sarcastic or not.

Do any of you even know what a troll is? You throw the term around so much that you seem to consider it a blanket term for that which you might consider obnoxious. There's a term for that, you know.

"Obnoxious"

Welcome to the forum, jclark. You'll have to excuse me if I don't check out your videos or whatever it is. I'm listening to music and am quite content with it at the moment.

"Obnoxious"

A troll is someone who purposely makes inflammatory posts just to get a rise out of people. We've had plenty of those at JREF i.e. the guy who posts every now and then saying he wipes his butt with Japanese faces or whatever.

You ought to know.

Of the three people you refer to, only one made mention of the idea that what the OP did might be considered as trolling...and that was from the OP himself in saying he was not trolling. Neither HNH nor I suggested that he is a troll.

When it comes to being obnoxious, though, you are a recognized master and we should probably defer to you on that.

Oh no, yeah. That would be trolling, at the least the example you gave me. Why haven't I ever seen this fellow who wipes his butt with Japanese faces before? I'm saddened to have not actually seen one of their posts.

Because we have a swift moderating team. Thread closed.
