my 2 cents : Practicing what you already know and letting us fill in with the context after that will make everything less random. Solidifying one concept before moving on to the next simplifies the whole endeavor quite a lot.

I have to say this is 苦しまぎれ. ほっとしてたら/するなら would be more natural in this case.

回/度 is basically used for repeatedly occured actions/happenings, whereas 番 is for an order in a group, 右から2番目, 初めから3番目...

回 and 度 are interchangeable in most cases, but not always. There're some exceptions.

1)度 can't be used with the prefix 第 and 全.

○第1回
×第1度

○全10回のドラマ
×全10度のドラマ

2)度 is basically used only for natural numbers under 100, thus, can't be used with 0, decimal/mixed decimal, etc.

○成功したのはまだ0回です
×成功したのはまだ0度です

○平均すると2.5回に1回は失敗している
×平均すると2.5度に1度は失敗している

番外 cannot be used in this situation - usually 番外 is used as 番外編, which is special programme/drama on TV vs usual series.

As noted earlier, 番外 means extra, as in extra material on top of the usual. For newspapers it could be an extra section, for TV it means a special episode with extra material etc.

A case in point (for anime) is the 13th episode of the recently concluded K-ON! anime. It's listed as an "extra" episode, because it contains extra material for the anime, a side story if you will.
