They are very well known the chronic debates about if we really put a man on the moon and returned it safely to earth as the President J.F. Kennedy said in 1962.

What do you think about the famous sceptics Bill Kaysing, Bart Sibrel or David Percy which claim that we never indeed put a man on the moon?

Are you an Apollo sceptic or an Apolllo believer?

Why do you think we did or we didn't land on the moon?

Did the Japanese satellite "Kaguya" proved that we did it?

Some say "yes" others say "no".

In my opinion we did it!

Wherever do you get the idea that "most people don't believe" we landed on the moon? That's absurd. Most people know we landed on the moon. The evidence is positively overwhelming. True, there are many woo-woo types out there who are willing to entertain all kinds of stupid conspiracy theories. Some people will insist the earth and all life were made 6,000 years ago, too. Those who are so willingly deceived are deluded fools.

As for Columbus, his erroneous claims have been longsince thoroughly debunked. No student of history still believes that he "discovered" America.

Yes, we landed on the moon. The proof is in what we left behind. Neil Armstrong left mirrors on the moon's surface at a specific location. Laser beams from Earth are shot at these mirrors and then reflected back. They are used to determine the distance between the Earth and the moon. Sorry, Amigo, but this issue is not a matter of one's "opinion." It's a matter of established and incontrovertible history. It's utterly foolish to imagine that it isn't.

Seems like there have been a hundred shows on TV argueing both sides with "scientific" facts. I believe we were there , mainly because when it happened our "mind set" was not that evil/conspiratorial to dream up such a complicated fake. I bet if you landed on the moon today, you would see the evidence we were there.

Once more, this issue is not subject to opinion, which is why soliciting opinions is a mistake. Why not ask everyone's opinion as to whether the earth is flat or round? Or whether the sun revolves around the earth? There are still a few flat-earth believers out there, I'm sure.

The evidence in support of the moon landings is well established. It cannot be effectively contradicted by reasonable people.

Mythbusters did a great show on this. There WERE some decent reasons to question the moon landing actually. Most were covered in the show and were debunked.

I watched it a couple of days ago here in my country!!
(You know, American shows came here later).
So I was eager to know what does the forum members think about it.
Mythbusters did a very interesting job debunking the hoax believers.
But it's sad that still there are people that think Mythbusters could be well paid by NASA. So I think sadly that hoax believers will have always an ACE card hid in the sleeve.

I wanted to keep out of this thread for the most part, but I really have to side with Bellevance on this.

You do display silliness in your comments.

Alone your comment above exemplifies it. Why on earth you would get the idea you were being battered because of your curiosity is beyond me.

Then take into account that you said "I don't quite recall talking to you either." in an open forum discussion and voila, we have a silly person.

I for one have no particular reason to believe one way or the other, but remain skeptical as moon magic has not affected my everyday life as of yet. As such I cannot independently verify what could be the most spectacular bit of nationalistic propaganda there ever was. I will point out though, that one of the major contributing factors to the fall of the USSR was them bankrupting themselves on trying to pull off the same thing.

First, Manahani, the remark I referred to as silly was not a "personal opinion." Rather, it was an implied statement of fact. It was a silly assumption. You said, "I don't know why most people don't believe we did [land on the moon]..."

Now, although many people are capable of saying silly things, saying silly things does not necessarily make those people silly. As the scolding parent may say to the misbehaving child, "You are not a bad girl, but you have done a bad thing."

So, lest you take this too much to heart, let me point out that I did not say you were silly, and I certainly did not "batter" you. I said that your remarks were silly. I did so, first, because your remarks were silly and, second, because you had taken it upon yourself to give me this blunt and snide advice: "Learn to quote properly. It'll do you some good." Which was not only silly and uncalled-for, but mistaken.

I wouldn't lower myself to dignify a thread based on such an asinine premise by treating it seriously.

The simple fact is that the topic of whether the moon landings were fake or not have no business on JREF to begin with, in my opinion, and even if management chooses to make room for such a topic by no means does it belong under the rubric "Serious Discussion". Perhaps we need a "Tinfoil Hat" section or a "Humor the Conspiracy Theorists" section.
