Japanese people are likely to avoid saying 愛している、恋している、惚れている, though they are often used in the lyrics of songs or the lines of dramas. (I myself have never used them in speaking.) Some may do ... And 惚れている, if used, is the word for matured men (or maybe women). It is often heard in the lyrics of Enka. If a young child says this, it will cause a laugh. A high school boy? Probably good!
