How to negotiate a price on a car with a dealer in Japan

What would be the customary way to negotiate the pricing on the car with the dealer in Japan? In USA, I used to get the dealer cost from the website and use that as the guide and give them about 3% mark up on that pricing as a starting point on the price negotiation (the dealer won't sell the car without any mark up; the kick-back from the manufacturers is not included in this).
 
Tell them what you want to pay and don't even give them a chance at them thinking you will pay more. If you don't mind carrying the cash required for the car, show them the wad of cash and it shows you are serious, b/c if they don't think you are serious they won't even bother talking to a time wasting gaijin. From there it is a haggle.

Oh .... and you should know a bit of Japanese.
