So i'm going to Japan for my Honeymoon in 9 months

I'm going on a self-guided tour for two weeks with my fiancee who will be my wife by the time we;re there. I've never been to Japan before and I'm really exicted...

I'm even composing a small TO-DO list of things I've always wanted to do and that includes...

- drink sake
- play in a pachinko parlor
- eat okonomiyaki
- go to a bathhouse
- go to a hot spring
- go to a karaoke bar
- visit some random high school

and more....I'll probably think of more as the months go by. Any suggestions?

You can do all three at the pachinko/slot parlor if so inclined. Although really good okinomiyaki should be sought out rather than just bought at the first opportunity. There are actually many kinds of okonomiyaki prepared differently (from ultra-thin to "thick as a hubcap") with different toppings and flavorings.

Self-guided is good buit you will really need to plan ahead and have some sort of itinerary in order to get the most for your time and money. A lot will depend on where you plan on visiting/staying. Depending on your interests, there will be plenty of things to see and do i'm sure. You and your fiance' will have a great time no doubt. Cheers on your honeymoon.

Anyways, if I'm ever going on a honeymoon to Japan I'd definitely want to:

• Drink a lot
• Eat a lot
• Try to get a room at Chapel Coconut in Fukuoka

Those are some interesting plans.
The first thing came to my mind for a suggestion was staying at a ryokan that has a private rotenburo for a few days, then "drink sake" part will be covered as well.

I'm sure two weeks will go by very quickly when you are having fun with your lovely wife in a foreign country, so it's good that you are making plans way ahead.

Do try and take the trains during rush hour in the morning or evening. This way when you talk about it you can say you experienced it.

I must concur. No honeymoon to Japan would be complete without an overnight stay at a Love Motel. Even if it just for the experience of having stayed in one.

On day 8 they recommend traveling around, which I also support!! Osaka is one of my fave cities (but I wouldn't know what to do there on a honeymoon), Himeji apparently has the most beautiful castle of Japan (but I havn't been there myself yet), and Hiroshima's peace park is very very impressive and I can imagine some romantic walks there along the small river with young lads playing on their guitars and singing songs..

I just realized how much Japanese I need to study for the next 9 months. We'll be in Tokyo and Kyoto so we'll def have some english speaking natives. But for the rural areas I might need to use my very limited speaking schools. Hopefully, all the hotel clerks and restaurant owners speak english for the sake of us American tourists. But that's not an excuse for me to not try my hardest. Seriously, I'm limited to greetings, goodbyes, "what time is it?", "I speak english, I don't understand/ speak little japanese", " I am...." "I want..." "Let's eat...." and so on and so on. I can probably carry a small conversation....while my fiance knows Hi and Bye....hehe.

So expect to see me quite often....
