Quite a gloomy collage. I guess we need to differentiate a bit. The pre-war and WWII eras and the first years of the occupation were undoubtedly among the darkest periods in Japanese history. However, the Showa era lasted until 1989 (Showa 64) and saw Japan emerge as an industrial power and a major global contributor. I suggest renaming it "The Shadows of Early Shōwa."
