Is it really unhealthy? Then why don't we have it over here in the UK?
We have mustard. It's horrid.
No, it's not particularly unhealthy. Of course not as healthy as oil & vinegar.
I don't know, it's quite a mystery considering it's probably the #1 salad dressing choice in the U.S. There's one on
Tesco's web site so I guess you can get it if desired. It's the Paul Newman brand but UK produced. Also this Tesco dressing appears similar to a ranch dressing.
Here's the ingredients. Water, Rapeseed Oil, Lemon Juice from Concentrate, Sugar, White Wine Vinegar, Buttermilk (
Milk), Garlic Purée (3%),
Egg Yolk, Salt, Cornflour, Parsley, Chive, Preservative (Potassium Sorbate),
Mustard Flour, Thickener (Xanthan Gum), Black Pepper.
The ingredients for Paul Newman's Ranch dressing is: Rapeseed Oil, Water, Butter
Milk (from Cow's
Milk), White Wine Vinegar, Sugar, Pasteurised Salted Egg Yolk (
Egg Yolk, Salt), Garlic Puree (2%), Salt, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Concentrated Lemon Juice, Acid (Lactic Acid), Sour Cream Powder (
Milk), Stabiliser (Xanthan Gum), Leek Flavouring, Parsley, Spring Onion, Chives
Anyway if it doesn't contain anything that is verboten for you, I suggest giving it a try.
Dawn Farmer, the British girl on the YouTube video I sent is (somewhat) famous for loving ranch dressing. Her YouTube channel hasn't gotten much traction but she has 3 million followers on TikTok.
If you need me to send you the
vegan version let me know.
