( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝)Much love anyone who could explain what did these 2 characters said here.
Context: Recently a new princess from a foreign country got marriage with 渚/Nagisa (a leader of a clan and also she's a protagonist friend). Protagonist is also living with another little girl 鈴果/Rinka at Nagisa's house. The princess seems to be very depressed and doesn't show any emotions/ or talk with anyone since she become a political wife of Nagisa. All 3 of them are trying to find a way to cheer up this princess.
One day protagonist is hiding with Rinka (this little girl had been entrusted by Nagisa to take care of the princess daily needs) outside the princess's hut, and he's surprised to see Nagisa- a very shy girl is trying to talk with the princess. Normally Nagisa only talk with protagonist and hide behind him when see strangers.

の in ぼくの is the pronoun for 盗み聞き. She (jokingly) insisted that she eavesdropped on their conversation for her guard. He replied that it's just an excuse/a pretext.

so how would you translate 「モノは言いよう過ぎる」 ? "Nice excuse" ? I can't find this expression's definition in Japanese dictionary

The original expression is ものは言いよう(だ). いいよう過ぎる is used for emphasis, but it's an uncommon, or more likely (intentionally) wrong expression. "Nice excuse" is not bad, but the point is that he said it with sarcastic nuance.
