Successful experiments I'd say!Experiments

Very enjoyable afternoon!Yesterday, @nice gaijin, @Lothor, and I met in Shinjuku for an informal JREF get-together. It was nice to meet you in person finally!
We spent a pleasant afternoon learning about Japanese brush utensils and inkstones.
I'm sharing nice gaijin's photos.
Disclaimer: nice gaijin and Lothor agreed to show their faces. After careful consideration and unpleasant past experiences, I hid my terrible visage behind my avatar.

I was going to guess Mango but the leaves aren't correct. So my best guess based on an image search is Chinese Quince which are also grown in Japan and known as カリン.
Do they get paid or is it a volunteer activity?First two are taken by my wife at the cruise terminal, she's part of the group of shamisen players (among other groups) who are there for the arrival/departure of the ships, and this looks like a departure. She's taking the pics, so is not in them, but dresses the same way--the blue and purple. Not visible in these smaller shots (maybe? just below the smokestack in the first pic), but it's the Asuka II, which you might be able to google.

Meanwhile, I hope this one prevents any vampires from clustering around here:
There's only a token payment, and not even preferred parking once there. And it's 35-40min each way.Do they get paid or is it a volunteer activity?
The yellow placard would seem to indicate it's a doctor clinic. Unless it's an ad for another location and they're just using the house as a billboard. I can't read the small print. How about the full side of a place, a 'broadside', instead of just some small section or detail:

Good quality sign if it's 25 years old!小立野 is back in town, so just a sign for a clinic. And that's the old version of phone numbers here--used to be 0762-64-0255, now 076-264-0255. The change was maybe ~25yrs ago, a new version would lead off as 264.
