Hi everyone,

Happy to join this forum which I can't believe I have overlooked for so long. It seems like a treasure trove of information on all things Japanese.
My name is Jakob, and my fascination with Japan started way back in 1995 when I first visited Tokyo at the tender age of 20. Being intrigued by all the alien characters around me, I simply had to break the code, so I did a BA in Japanese back in Copenhagen and have returned to Japan time and again over the years. I was living in Shinagawa around 2013-2014 working for a Japanese company on a local contract (long hours, modest pay, no expat benefits, but tons of free Japanese classes with colleagues ;-)) Recently, I have been writing a trilogy of novels all set in and around Tokyo, making my debut as a (part-time) author with "Ripples in the Waters by Lake Kawaguchi" (published on December 2, 2022). Looking forward to, hopefully, revisit Japan next year on a family vacation ;-)

Hi Jakob, and welcome to the forum! We are already looking forward to learning more about your trilogy! :)

Thank you Thomas :) It's essentially a romantic suspense trilogy, involving as diverse agents as the yakuza, a depressed sarariman, a college student, a housewife and many other colorful characters. Let me know if you would like me to post some content somewhere on the board ;-)

Sounds fascinating, Jakob! Feel free to start your own thread. In the future, we'd appreciate an editor review. :)
